Hi!
I think I can raise funds to go for a "full wheel supension" upgrade for my Sagaris this winter. I'm planning to buy a set of 19" Jade'Rs, tyres and maybe a new dampers, therefore I have a few questions.

- when fitting new rims, I have to realign the supension anyway, so would it be worth to buy new dampers before? I'm running the original dampers at the moment, they are still working, but look a bit fked up after 8 years. So 2 options, new Nitrons or refurb the old ones?

- which tyre size do you recommend? TVR Power seems to recommend smaller front (235) and wider (265) back tyres for the 19"

- tyre manufacturer? At the moment I'm facing "Michelin Super Sport"

What's your suggestions?

I'm a normal driver and usually I drive on contryroads - no tracks yet.

cheers Josef

I've got TVR Power specification 19" Jade-Rs on mine with 235/265 tyres. Works very well, car looks pretty well set-up with them, standard suspension and drives fine. Not a lot of sidewall on the tyres but all T-cars are like that. Handles great on track, turns in really well, and probably cant notice difference on road tbh.

Why change, nothing wrong with original 18 's. As for tyres look at Continenal, they seem to win all the reviews latly

I run 19s on the Sag and Tuscan. I have 255 30s on the front of both, 245 is the correct size for the 8 1/2" rim but they seem hard to find and 235 looks stretched. On the rear I have 275 but really I could go 285, handles well and turns in no issue, protects rims and reduces tramlining.

Conties on one and Michies SS on the other. Michies are best.

If you're a drifter get stretching....

Hi all!
Ok, so no need to upgrade the standard suspension for now with 19inch alloys - that's good to hear, new Nitrons would add another 3.000.- €...

@Mike
And the tyres are 235/35 and 265/30 as they recommend?

@Tony
Because I think that 18" look too small for these cars and on faster curves, they feel a bit "spongy" - even with 2 bars.

@John
Any problems with space in the front wheel house with 19" and 255?

@Christian
Which type of Yoko's?

@Alex
Eagle F1? I had them on my old Audi TT and as far as I can remember, they were very slippery.

Not that I noticed, but I never really push her when driving

Nope, always things to do on her. One of the reasons I got her in the first place biggrin

I still think 18's are better on the Sagaris, 19's way too crashy for me, I kept them on the car for less than two weeks.

With the right offset 18's transform the car in the handling stakes.

255's on the front not an issue. Handles better than the 18" set up, offset is the same. I keep the pressure fairly low and no issues.

Respect Paul and his comment, he has experience of driving with a few more horses than me, but in my experience no problems or downside. The Tuscan is superb and would go 100% on recommending the Michie SS's.

Hi Paul!
But do you think, that 19" will be too crashy for "racing noobs" like me? As far as I know, we both aren't playing in the same driving leage...;-)

I know, that a higher sidewall is generally better for driving, but I don't like the spongy feeling in curves, thats why I'm looking for 19".

Enjoy this thrad: Modified wheels.

As for suspension... Personally I wouldn't go near Gaz Golds again. Nitrons - very impressed. Same price as the ASTs which apparently are very good, but I don't know anyone who has them! Then there are the Ohlins...

Hi there,

Yes I think 19" are too crashy whatever your driving standard but I am sure loads disagree.

Here are the details of the rotas's they still rub in the wheel arches and a photo of the car will soon be published on speedhunters showing this happening going through Eau Rouge.

Paul it is interesting that the offset you have on the front, further out than TVR intended, is similar to my Tuscan, which behaves so well.
