It was time for me to renew my subscription to the Magazine and like many, usually take advantage of the promotional offers that are available at the various Kit car shows here in the UK. On visiting the CKC stand at the Donington Kit Car Show and talking to the staff at CKC I had the opportunity to test out their new magazine app, on an ipad in the show stand and was lucky enough to receive a personal demonstration of the app by the magazine's editor Ian Stent.

Needless to say I was very impressed, in particular with the added features of direct product links, scrolling photos and the video links. It was also NO more expensive that the traditional paper copy, and significantly cheaper for EU and RTW customers, so I thought I'd give it a go.

My only concern was that, where as my better half uses an ipad, I use a Sony Xperia tablet and would the app work as well on that platform? Ian convinced me that while he couldn't confirm it would work, he assured me that he intended for it to be available on all major platforms and would undertake to personally get involved to resolve any compatibly issues that I had. I won't bore you with the details but have to say I did have some compatibility problems but true to his word Ian along with the excellent help I received from the apps support team. The app has been updated and I'm up and running. Now if you do have difficulties when testing, using and uploading the app and it crashes I encourage you to use the apps 'Report Facility' as this will inevitably provide the app support team with the necessary information to update, improve the app and ensure its compliance with as many platforms as possible.

Now I'm aware of this sounding to much like an advert for CKC, and there are other Kit Car Magazines available, but I hope the moderators of this forum will see this for what I intended it to be, which is a genuine tail and review of a new product/service that an individual forum member has had, that has no financial or commercial interest whatsoever in the product or the company involved, but just feels it worthy of sharing with other enthusiasts.

You do have the ability to download the app FOC and test out with an old issue 'Sept 2013' available for free, of the magazine before having to commit and paying anything and I would recommend others to try it out first. I won't put up any of the links for fear of falling foul of any forum rules, but will encourage others reading this to investigate further as I personally feel it worth a look.
