Hey PH,

Looking for idea's on where to take the Mrs for a night away from work, kids etc. We are based in Manchester so ideally looking for somewhere around the North West/Lake District/North Wales/Chester type of area's, hotel budget is anything between £150-200 for the night, no preference as to where, dont mind city centre's or rural places as long as good there is somewhere pretty local that can offer good food and a few beverages afterwards.

Thanks in Advance, and i look forward to your suggestions and experiences

The Wensleydale Heiffer....in errrr......Wensleydale. Pub turned restaurant with rooms attached.
Quirky rooms (can be a bit Marmite tbh) and really good food. The seafood tasting platter starter is just superb. Might be a teeny bit over budget.

Agree with the above.

Very friendly place, great food and slightly idiosyncratic (but nice) rooms.

Recommended.

The white lion in Hebden bridge: http://www.whitelionhotel.net/

Hebden bridge is a lovely little place to visit and is approx 1hour from the city centre so you can maximise your time away. The food is really excellent at the White lion too.

Stayed here recently

Lake view room was quite special, rate inc dinner should be within your budget.

Really depends what you want, sightseeing, walking, fine dining. Living in the area I've stayed away from Ambleside/Windermere area as got the impression it was mobbed with tourists but was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it.
