Hi all, I sold my car today and need to find a mint mk1 MX5 1.8 quickly! If you know of a mint, low mileage car please let me know...

So far I have seen a 17k mile red one, however that is not my ideal colour. Bright blue, black, silver, or grey would be ideal. Not so keen on red or some of the dull greens.

Any help or links appreciated!! Thanks, Paul smile

I'm looking for an original early UK Mazda MX5 1.6 ideally red or white. I'll point out an 1.8's as we don't clash! smile

Have you tried dandy cars and Paul sheard. Mk1 in good condition is getting to be a rare thing.

A pity you don't want a Mk2. I have a close to mint white RS I'm debating about selling. Unwelded (and don't need it!) MX's are getting rare.

I have had my 1 previous owner, 1993 mk1, for 10 years now , and totally love it
I genuinely thought that it was pretty immaculate , until a month ago (it still has not only the original factory soft-top , but even the original plastic rear window)

I have been keeping my eye out for a second mx5 1.6 to stash away, for a couple of years now , as I think that they are such fun, once correctly set up, and so very under-rated
the story of its conception , and the attention to detail in its design and manufacture, explain why it got into EVO magazine top 10 driver's car

well about a month ago, when the weather was still good, I had just come out from a swim in the sea, and in the beach car park saw this H reg car drive past
I went over to say hello, and the closer I got the harder it was to believe what I was seeing

totally immaculate red paintwork, an elderly owner, and completely original
AND it was a LONG NOSE car
AND a 1.6
28,000 miles, uk car, completely factory original

story was that the original owner bought it as a retirement present for himself , and had it for 17 years , then passed it on to his son-in-law
have now got a couple of lovely letters from the owners detailing their time with the car

just having all its fluids changed, and a geo done, and then its off to BEAULIEU for photography, as it is to be their photographic library reference example

long story ,just to say that original cars are still out there to be had, but may take a few years and some not inconsiderable luck in finding, and persuading the owner to sell

best of luck with your search....try and get a 1.6 (pre 1994), and try to get a long nose crank car

I'm about to enter the market for a Mk.2 (well, was thinking nearer the New Year), but I'd be interested in hearing about any cars that go on sale here... I currently know nothing about MXs, bar some limited research, but if anybody is selling, especially if they're thinking about it over the winter, feel free to PM me - Mk.2's in particular, probably the 1.8 cars.

Very early mx5s had a short nose crank. Easily damaged during a cam belt change.

Spotted this mk1 at the Gaydon anniversary meet a few weeks back. 14k on the clock. And underneath was so unbelievably clean!! Like it had come straight from the factory. I'll try and get a photo of the underside uploaded but I don't have them atm.

I'm still on the lookout for a mk1. Though have criteria I want met and not in a rush. Have been quite taken with the VR ltd A.
