Hi All,

My Mother in law has got a new clio 0.9tce as her company car and I can't seem to find the service schedule for it - there isn't anything in the documentation that she was given when she collected the car, and the Renault site seems less than useful on the subject (although there are some painfully patronising videos about what a service is - mysteriously all with American accents).

The context to this, is that her previous company car was not taken in for any of its services despite the fact that they were already paid for. This obviously led to a scary bill on return (circa £4k off the top of my head), but more worrying was that when I took a quick look over it, I found that the brake fluid was well below minimum - given that we occasionally have to travel in her car I do have an interest in keeping it safe.

Does anybody have a copy of the service intervals?

A quick internet search reveals that it's, 12000 miles or 24 months for that model.

Off topic, how do you rate the car OP? There's loads of them appearing where I live and I think the Clio looks pretty smart.

It is a decent little car, the 3 cylinder engine sounds surprisingly alright and doesn't go too badly for what it is, but isn't the most responsive (it possibly doesn't help that my car is a mk1 mx5 - which for all its faults has decent throttle response) what this invariably means is that when I drive it I spend most of my time playing around the higher end of the rev range.

It has what for me are disproportionately large wheels - so feel that the ride is slightly compromised (this is probably me being behind the times as both of our cars have 14" wheels and fat tyres) but it seems decently checkable and held its own on a couple of my favourite local b roads when I gave it a run a couple of weeks ago.

The touch screen cd player/nav etc is a little frustrating - I think I just prefer buttons on something like this, and I have noticed the screen struggles on bright days, but it sounds pretty decent for a standard system.

She has done circa 7k since she got it and has averaged 42mpg according to the trip computer - she works as a community nurse so a mixture of commuting to the city and then start stop driving all day, which while a long way from the optimistic test claims seems pretty reasonable to me. My wife does a similar job to her mum albeit in a rural setting, and struggles to get much more than 45/50mpg out of her fabia tdi for a similar type of driving.

One thing I do notice, and it might just be me being a bit on the heavy side but the front of the cabin feels a little claustrophobic, this is exaggerated a little by the blind for the panoramic roof, it comes down surprisingly low, the seat is height adjustable but, it just feels a bit off. (again this is funny as I am fine in my mx5, not sure if it is because of the more upright seating position?)

The only other issue I have noticed is that the rear visibility is appalling, though I think this might just be a 'new car' thing - the rear pillars are incredibly thick and the rear screen is set high and isn't overly deep. I used to drive sprinter vans around all day so don't usually find things like this an issue, but it does make pulling out of the lay-by outside her house a bit tricky.

Overall, it is a perfectly decent car and looks really good (hers is flame red) and goes relatively well while returning decent fuel economy, I wouldn't buy one for myself but if my wife came home from work with one I wouldn't be upset at all.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Had a few clios in the family over the years and they have always been a decent little car.

I have one of these. Excellent little car (really impressed with build quality, driveability and fuel economy), but as you say the service intervals are not obvious!
I ended up phoning Renault UK as I could not make sense of the owners handbook.
Here's what I found out:
- Car requires an annual service
- Car also requires oil changes, which are set by mileage/oil condition
- I my car we did about 14,000 miles in the first 12 months and it had the regular service but no oil change. I queried this and was told the oil change was not due until 18,000 miles.
- Indeed at around 17,500 miles the dashboard "spanner" light came on and then the dashboard computer menu showed how many miles required to the oil change. Strangely the computer menu option is not there until the spanner comes on and then the spanner light goes out...
- This means you may require twice as many dealer visits if your annual mileage is not an even fraction of 18,000, but it is all covered by the 4 year/48,000 mile inclusive service package.
- The dealer is supposed to give you a service schedule at handover, but mine did not.
- Service schedule is also available on the Renault web site if you set up a user login :-(

I'm getting around 50mpg on the computer. Mine has 16" wheels and the ride is firm, but good. Engine has amazing torque for a 0.9, but unsurprisingly not much top end. Handling is very confidence inspiring.
The basic MediaNav system is OK and it can be updated by logging onto Renault UK. There's a very cheap UK full postcode search update and new maps are free for the first 90 days of ownership (worth getting the about to be released 2015 maps if you car is nearly new). You have to do a software download to your PC and mess about with a USB stick, but not too painful.
