Ah hah, my thread has arrived, on the F800 GS Adv. Travel with it's fab 24L tank and sipping engine I get around 300, could possibly be eeked more, but not risked any further with the light on.

GSX-R600 SRAD, light comes on about 130 miles I think. I'm not sure how much further it could go, I'd prefer not to have to find out. I'm not terribly fuel conscious when it comes to bikes as it's just a toy to me, I put the fun juice in and it does it's thing. I couldn't own an Aprilia RSV4 (even if I could afford one) as the thirst would put me off. Not because of the expense, but because I'd worry about getting stuck somewhere. I know the fuel lights on bikes are conservative, precisely for the purpose of stopping these kind of mishaps, but it would irritate me to see the fuel light flashing when I'm not even home from my favourite local loop.

No idea, my back and wrists give up from maintaining a full on racing tuck at 37 mph before the tank runs out. Easily 180 to the gallon if my body didn't let it down.

Of course, anyone trying to do that sort of mpg on a 125 needs to be shot to put them out of their misery...
My little Suzuki GS125 did 93mpg last time I bothered to work it out, how the hell do you get to 180mpg??? redface

So the league table looks a bit like:

1. BMW GS tankenfuehrer GS1100GS aka 'Buttknacker'

2. BMW GS grosserbenzin 1000GS1000 aka 'Asslochbanger'

3. Honda Pan European 1300 Sports-tourer aka 'Der Creampuffpisswagen'

4. Everything else

Technically a range of 240mi riding gently from full to empty, but more like 210 mi in normal riding. Fill up at 170 mi normally.

See the last line...

The thing is, you need a certain amount of energy to overcome air resistance, so first step is ride slower (and on a 125, as you know, you weren't going that fast to start with...) to cut air resistance losses. This saves a massive chunk, from 70 odd mpg at an average of 65 to 70 mph, to 120, 130 odd at 40 mph on its own.

The rest is mostly riding style/body position, luck with traffic to slipstream, wind direction, lots of factors - It is not something I can recommend, making a 125 do 150 mpg plus, or even attempt more than once or twice a year. It is, IMO, quite dangerous...

But, it is nice to know it can do it on the very rare times it is needed.

210 miles on my 2014 Yamaha YBR 125 when the needle hits red. Costs £9.40 to fill it with the posh unleaded. Must try and see how far it will go until it runs out completely.

I had spotted the last line was just rather curious wink

I can't see me trying that some how, I tend to run my poor little thing like a 2CV. Maintain momentum at all cost, compared to my MX-5 and even my diesel Rover 45 I am already a very happy chap with 93mpg biggrin

No idea but I do have a MPG display on my 2006 Busa, I can get just over 40mpg riding very casually, but still manage 34-35mpg ridden more enthusiastically. Not bad for nearly a 1300cc.

By talking bks, there's no way anyone has got that. The best I've got was 150 something mpg from a CBF 125 and someone I know got up to 160 something I think and he rides proper slow.

There's no way the sportier more powerful CBR gets 180mpg.

Is this not the 125 that got round Donnington Park 2 seconds a lap off 125GP times? There is Roswell technology in that thing, when he activates the flux drive it's infinite MPG.

Sporty & more powerful? Isn't it exactly the same power as limited by CBT rules? so the only real difference is slightly better aero if the rider is tucked in?

Sportier? It's a commuter in a frock, the only thing remotely "sporty" is the name, and quite frankly if a name means something is sporty, Honda (and many other vehicle manufacturers as well come to think of it) should be prosecuted for mis-advertisement. It is about as sporty as a 1.0 Nissan Micra. Except the Micra has better brakes, better suspension, a far higher top speed, far more power. It is a commuter in a frock.

More powerful? By about 1 bhp. Nothing in it at low revs.

I CBA to dignify the other two's comments with a response, but yours isn't a complete waste of time.
