Had the opportunity to eyeball and try on one of these in Dubai, was quite impressed by the unique shape, style, weight, quality and size....I'm sure they are not for everyone.

Given we are on a car forum, any of you own or know anything about them? All I can ascertain is that they are similar to Porsche Design, i.e. a sub brand run by a family member. I'm more interested in the quality and all I can establish is that they are 'Swiss movt' apparently with Swiss Rhonda quartz movements in Chinese cases.

Any help appreciated.

Don't know these watches, but the movement will be a Ronda 8040N with that layout.

Better value and (arguably) better quality than the ETA quartz chronos, with the big advantage that Ronda aren't planning to restrict supplies like ETA will be next year so repair will be easier in future.

Chinese casing isn't necessarily a problem - I have a genuine Gucci and a coupe of Tissots on my bench at the moment with "case China" stamped inside the back.

From a practical POv I'd be a little concerned about the case style though. There's a large crown, which doesn't appear to be screw-down, supported by a relatively small case pipe - that's just asking for stem breakage. Also, those "unusual" pushers are liable to catch on anything going.

Very much a case of form over function, which is usually a bad idea in something like a watch.

I don't know about Lamborghini.

With that case shape it's crying out for an RX7/8/insert favourite Rotary engined car here special edition smile

Thank you for the comprehensive and technical reply, much appreciated.

You're right about the overall design, fussy and potential for easy damage is what I'm taking away from your comments. I guess the acid test question is these watches retail at c.£1k, are they worth it?!

Marcosgt - Yes, I did think very rotary engine esque.....fortunately, they do other designs!

Personally at £1k I don't think its worth it. Nothing wrong with a quartz Ronda, but you're paying for a lot if name. then theirs the car branded bit, if I'm honest its a little tacky even if you're stepping out of a LP560.

Barons have 6 in the 'Automobilia' section of their next auction http://www.barons-auctions.com/entry.php?pageid=93... (bottom of the page). All 6 are more conventional 'round' designs but it shows that £1,000 on one may not be a good investment, but I'm sure you'd get one for £200.
