Jersey for a week
Discussion
My dad used to live over in Jersey in the 60s and he decided to have a trip over there about 10 years ago, so I went to join him, having never been there myself. We had a hire car and we did a tour of the island. We started off at La Corbiere lighthouse and worked our way round clockwise, stopping at most of the nice beaches or where we fancied, with my dad telling me stories about his time out there.
Went back four years ago for my mum's birthday and whilst there we had a lovely meal at Le Hocq http://www.liberationgroup.com/pubs/le-hocq-inn. Don't know if the standards are still good so it might be worth googling for reviews.

Tennerfest will have started, so October is a good time to go if you enjoy sampling different eating establishments.

Go to Gorey Castle, St Aubins, War Tunnels, Plemont (cafe over beach), on a sunny day do some walking along the north of the island, the Opera House is good if the programme suits and with your hire car, make sure that you sample all of the beaches and associated scenery. Trip Advisor can be your friend.

If the weather is good walk to the end of St. Catherine's breakwater to get great views of France.
Corbierre Lighthouse at low tide as you can walk out to it.
If Elizabeth or Mont Orgueil castles are open they are worth a visit.
Walking around any of the coast is lovely. The north coast is a lot more hilly than you think.
Drive round the island. Sounds mad, but can be done in a few hours easily. Gets your bearings as well.
I lived there ten years ago and thought the zoo was amazing, but could be weather dependant on seeing the animals. You wouldn't want to come out of your house to look at strangers in the rain!
St Ouen's bay is stunning and there used to be some great cafes next to the beach.
The Victorian tidal swimming pool at Harve de Pas if you are feeling brave.
Tennerfest as mentioned is great, ask a local for the best places as there are always good and bad as everywhere. For something different try a Madeiran restaurant. Funchal Paradise was a favourite, still gets a good write up on Trip Advisor.
