I have noticed that when my chim has not been used for a week or so it does not turn over as well. It always starts, I'm thinking with summer waving good bye usage will be more infrequent and a trickle charger is required. So what's a good choice? I want to be able to charge from the cigar lighter socket possible. I have a late 98 if it makes any difference!

Not sure of the difference between Optimate and Accumate, but I have the latter and it works well. I think you'll have to buy the cigar lighter attachment separately.

How old is your battery? If older than about 6 or 7 years, it might be time to think about getting a new one. An Accumate will keep you going on a tired battery for a bit longer, but age will catch up with it eventually.

I Have Acumate and ctek chargers, think the Ctek one is a little better as it have afew modes to use, but both will do a good job, also my acumate does get very hot.

Am I able to charge from the cigar lighter as standard or does this require some sort of mod?

If your car's cigarette lighter wiring is unmodified, then it will work without modification. I run the cable through a hole in the wall of the house, and then between the top of the side window and the rubber seal of the targa roof and into the cigarette lighter. I think I needed to buy the cigarette adapter separately; I don't think it came with the Accumate as standard but they sell it as an accessory.

Bought one of these and installed it. It certainly did the trick, but have only used it when stood for extended periods. I fitted a Varta E39 AGM battery, which was fine for three months without a trickle charge.
