I had a quick look at my bank a/c to find there's 4 separate payments totalling just shy of £80 to Simply Be from my card. I don't have a SB a/c. My partner does, and last year I made a payment to her a/c with my card.

I spoke to her, and none of the figures match any on her a/c, plus she's made her monthly payment so nothing else is due.

So, I ring up the bank to get the transactions reversed. In the process, I stupidly mentioned that my partner had an a/c that I'd made a payment to. With that, he explained that because I'd done so, I'd authorised any future payments. Wtf...

Ended up getting put through to the fraud team who cancelled the card and raised a claim. However, if the fraud team decide the payments were authorised, I'm liable.

If that's the case, I'm closing the a/c. How the hell can making one payment to your partners a/c, make any future transactions down to me? I've not disclosed pin numbers, just made a payment over the net.

Tossers..

Has the money debited from your account been credited to your partners SB account?

Due to you having previous dealings with the company Santander will want you to speak to the company first to a request a refund. If you get no joy through the company then Santander can raise a dispute to try and claim the funds back on your behalf.

There are a huge amount of people who claim fraud when they've actually signed up for further payments to a company, usually without reading the small print. Not suggesting this is the case with yourself but this is why the banks take the stance that they do.

Nope, it's all been checked and no payments for the amounts deducted have been credited to her simply be account so it looks like it's straight forward fraud on my card. They've recredited the amounts, so I'm just waiting on the paperwork atm.

It's weird, the payment I made was a one off. Where you enter three figures of you verification word etc. I can't see how they could use it again tbh. I genuinely think that it's someone who's got the card details, luckily I check my banking everyday so picked up on it quickly.

The other thing is, the payment I made was a long time ago. Other than that single payment, all others have been made on my partners card.
