Hello

I'm thinking about buying a Cooper as a run around and commuting car. I had a drive of one yesterday ('07 model). It was quite nice but the tyre noise was bloody horrendous. However the car had three Wanli tyres on and one Continental (why do dealers do this??). I spoke to the dealer and he said all Mini's are this loud. I'm wondering if this is true or it was loud because of the st tyres? It is the only thing stopping me buying a Cooper (not the one I test drove though).

Thanks

Hi Mark,

Come for a ride in mine at the next pub meet - both ours have extra mats installed to lessen the road noise down to acceptable levels, and 70db rated Michelin tyres.

When's the next pub meet?

Rubbish, check the rear tyres for feathering (inside and out) the rear alignment could be out the noise this produces is like a knackered wheel bearing. Fix is two new tyres and geometry set up.

It'll be the Wanli ditch finders, sounds like a wheel bearing gone.
