I am looking on mobile.de a lot at the moment and without going into the detail the option of a LHD car is increasingly attractive.

I am talking myself into it but I would use it on open country roads and normally when there are few cars to overtake, occasional euro trip (maybe more as it will be LHD).

I have driven an F50 a fair bit and the LHD wasn't too big a deal on Scotlands country roads.

My questions are from people who have done it or are doing it for feedback and pointers. My concerns are resale mainly and how to mitigate getting stuck with the car potentially?

I am also looking into this option for a lp640 (mostly due to lack of numbers here in the uk) but also the price difference is getting larger all the time and the option is becoming increasingly attractive.
I believe when it comes to selling on it's simply a case of buy as cheap as you can and sell below the market value for a similar rhd spec car, you may not lose as much as you think..... depends how desirable the car is you're looking at.

I've always bought LHD Fcars in the UK and just about to complete on my 4th (black Scuderia from Paris). Euro market with the exchange rate in our favour gives (for the right car) amazing choice and value even offering up the chance to MAKE money should you want to move the car on.
Definitely a good market for such things in the UK and if you are willing to put in the effort and leg work to do the import you are absolutely on the right side of the deal...

Throw in a great drive home from where ever you purchase from - what’s not to like! smile

BUT! Do your homework, a narrow escape for me a few months back! http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Interesting!

For example> RHD Yellow low mile Scuderia at Ferrari Edinburgh £179k with 7.5k miles.

Versus> LHD Yellow Scuderia on mobile.de http://home.mobile.de/AUTOMOBILEHOFFMANN#des_89599... with less miles (8,200 km) for £117k.

Im not saying its apples for apples but you can see the attraction and the choice is high hence the price I guess.

Mine has 20K miles on the clock, 'every' available open on the car, one owner who is selling the car back through the main dealer he bought it from. Main dealer (Charles Pozzi Paris - great service) sale who is giving me a two year worldwide factory backed warranty and giving the car a full service before collection.

Final sale price 107,500 Euro's / £83,800.... £83K for a mint Scuderia (one of the great F cars) - I bit their hand off! If you look carefully there are a few cars like this out there, real gems IMO!

Rock on Friday - collection day (4 sleeps lol)! smile

I think Paris is closer to London than Edinburgh!

What are the downsides?

You won't lose anything. There's always a market and the work you put in to import has value.

100% agree! Downsides, bit of leg & paper work other than that. Nothing!

Sometimes you can find good LHD deals already in the UK with all the paperwork already done and saving you all the hassle . This scud looks well priced:

Missing the point sir, this is the imported value. You can either buy this or go to the golden source, have a paper chase for a few weeks and save circa £30k!

Simples really...

I must say that yellow scud , while lovely is well over priced and been for sale for quite a while.

Thats one hell of a deal, congratulations! Can you adjust the headlamps or...?

Also in the long run LHD & RHD prices tend to converge...in my experience in favour of LHD.

If it's the black Pozzi car, do beware...it's been for sale for nearly 1yr, a track beater, and needs/has had some front end paint I hear from French ferrari owner circle.

It's on its 3rd or 4th set of ceramic disc brakes, 2nd clutch...and would need front suspension triangle change.

Note: a very good source of info for French cars is www.ferrarista.fr A nice bunch of owners, with lots of info

Thanks for the heads up, they have had a few scuds go through (many colours inc another black). I went and inspected the car myself before agreeing and it is immaclate. Def not a track beater... Anyways 2 years cover should come in handy worst case! ;-)

Keep on topic please chaps.

A black 16M with red calipers and red/black cloth would match my Stradale and is what I am looking for when I dont get distracted by yellow scuds. Couldn't really care about miles as it will get used.

I brought my LHD 599 GTO ans 16M back to UK from Switzerland. On both cars you can't adjust the headlights and have to buy new units at around 6k per car. The 16M also had a speedo only in kmh so a whole new instrument pod neede, about 3k. Then cert of conformity about 550 per car. My 288 was also obviously LHD. And I have a Ford GT also LHD.
