Yes it is Harry's Lap Timer. Really good piece of kit and compatible with ODB input and GoPro.

I am going to have a proper play with it on the next track day.

How does it all work together is there a merging of data off offline? Video on go pro and then the car data saved on phone.

It seems this with some bits, ext GPS, camera and odb for Harry or vbox light which is big £ in comparison.

I like it though and can see it could be quite useful to analyse and sort lines and that's sort of thing out.

Apologies a bit off topic.

The Vbox lite gives so much more detail than this can, the Vbox can help with better lines, smoothness and a whole raft of additional data, now does HD video as well.

Expensive though!

It does look good the Vbox lite, I started looking at Harry's by the time you add camera, gps and Bluetooth obd it's not as cheap as the headline £13 'for the app'

There is a price for the time saving and simplicity of an all in one box is compelling.

Apologies to the OP for OT

You can either record on your smart phone and the footage is auto synced or you can give the app the wifi password for your GoPro and it will auto sync the timings with the GoPro footage. You need to copy the GoPro files to the smartphone and use the app to overlay the telemetry.

The GPS is not particularly accurate on a phone but it is just about passable. The app does have the option to use a 5 or 10hz GPS receiver via bluetooth or if you really want accuracy you get pair it with a Racelogic Vbox Sport which has 20hz GPS and has the advantage of also being able to use the Racelogic app to analyse your lines etc.

I was looking at a new GoPro 4 but I still find it annoying that you are required to buy a lead for £32.99 to allow you to charge the GoPro and run an external mic at the same time. Plus the added £38.99 for a skeleton case so you can plug the cable in.... and the fact they have dropped the motorsport edition so you have to buy the mount separately. Essentially over £100 just to get the same sound functionality and mount that I have for my GoPro 2.

I am getting really bored of GoPro charging a fortune for accessories so I am looking at replacing my GoPro with an iPhone 6 and fitting a wide angle lens to it so the FoV is similar to that of a GoPro and running the Harry's Lap timer app on it to capture video, sound and telemetry.

The Vbox video system does look good but it really expensive and is only 720p. When you consider a mobile phone can now record at 4k and that is not its primary purpose I think the Vbox video system is a bit outdated.

Thanks and yes also sorry OP for going well Off Topic!!

Think I will do some research over the next couple months I like the idea just finding the right solution at the right price, I like the iPhone6 idea, i'd prefer as few boxes as possible and favour simplicity.

Thanks for the input and again sorry for taking it OT

re Harrys App, i was impressed with it for a first use at a recent trip to Blyton Park...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZKzSGxGPI4

...This is thru an iPhone 5 just with a suction mount on the windscreen...so pic stabilization is an issue (although probably helps with a car mounting) and if I planned a bit better then the auto-focus would not keep changing...nice view of the rain drops though.. wink

..not bad for 13 quid.. wink

The iPhone 6 has big improvements to the video camera with image stabilisation and constant focus so it should be far better than the iPhone 5.

If I can replicate the setup I have my current GoPro 2 but with the telemetry overlay I will be very happy. I am also not keen on running separate boxes and having to manually sync and overlay footage. Sounds like a bit of a ball ache. You can use an external mic with the iPhone as well by plugging a standard 3.5mm mic into the headphone jack.

I was looking at something similar to this for the lens to get the same GoPro wide field of view. The ipro lenses are expensive though and there must be a cheaper good quality alternative.

Great video Andy, the Harrys app does look really good. I have the same issue with my iPhone 5 with the focus and stability when mounting in car.... This is something the GoPro cameras do really well and I am hoping iPhone 6 will resolve this for iPhone.

Not sure if you are referring to harry here, but the only thing connected to my phone was the charger. The overlay and sync was done automatically by the program.

Good luck with the i-Phone 6...just remember not to put it in your pocket and sit down on it... wink

Yes referring to Harry's lap timer but when used to capture video from an external source you need to copy and sync the footage with the telemetry captured on the app. Like you say if you use the iPhone to capture footage then you just hit record and the app does it all for you.

I'll try not to sit on my iPhone ;-)

My iPhone 5 is as good quality as my gopro 2 but really suffers from focus and stabilisation when used in the car so hopefully the 6 will resolve this. I have a North weald day the end of this month so I'll do a comparison.
