Nice colour.

We picked ours up yesterday, only done about 50 miles so early days but I quite like it.

Am I to assume that you had a Z4 before? We traded our Z4 in for the SLK. Over the past six years plus the Z4 had done only 25K, the first 10 over the first two years when the wife used it to commute. For any long trips we always used our Passat smoker.

The Passat went earlier this year for a 530D but we hope to more equalise the mileage over the two cars now, the SLK seems a better way to travel long distances than the Z4.

Yes I had a 35i Z4 E89. Loved it and just sold it yesterday. Thought it would be worse seeing it go, but it's not too bad. It was gorgeous in every way, but close to 5 years old and 62k miles....

Really loving my SLK350.....

Quite liking the SLK so far, though haven't done many miles yet. Better in every way than our Z4, though that was an 08 plate, (E85?) 2.0SE, so it should be.

One small thing, I found that when stopped at lights and the stop/start has kicked in, I can press the handbrake and then take my foot of the brake. Touching the throttle again starts the engine as normal.

Is there any way of getting the brake to hold without pressing it each time, as with the VW /Audi, BMW etc auto hold function?

Mmmm interesting I will try that.

Now a question for you. Rather stupidly, I didn't look to add folding mirrors in my search option....I have found someone who can add them, as per OEM, for £1050....I am happy to pay it, but am I nuts?

Also in case your car doesn't have Xenon, I found a company to do a retrofit for me, and wow wow wow, £400 later, and they are too bright now!! Brighter than the LED strips even....

When at a stop press the brake pedal down hard, this will activate the hold feature. But there is no automatic system, I think that's reserved for the next rung up, ie E/S/SL etc.

Thank you very much. Now you say, I think I have heard that before but it had been completely forgotten.

The car we've bought wasn't built to our spec, it happened to be coming in to the dealer and is close enough. It does have the folding mirrors but I don't think I would pay that much for them. I guess it depends where you park and the risk of them being knocked.

I'd be interested to know about the xenons. Haven't been out in the dark yet. Are the standard lights, which I'm pretty sure we have, not very good?

Lovely looking cars, do they have much boot space? I assume not?

Not really, though they are supposedly not bad for the class. If the thing that stops the roof hitting any luggage is in place, the space is fairly limited and difficult to access. If that's out of the way, the space isn't too bad, for the class, and is easily accessible but you can't drop the roof, of course.

The lack of space in the boot is the one design aspect I don't like, esp when I compare it to my mk1...which has a fking enormous boot! I moved home from Switzerland back to the UK in just one journey with the pos 230, but it would take about 5 trips in the new 55. I loved that aspect of the pos.

Well I tried to keep my possessions when in Europe to whatever fits. I went out there with just a suitcase, by the time I came back it was an entire car full of stuff...and the car! I couldn't even get two suitcases in the 55 last week for us to go down to Gatwick so had to take the ML which is just a tad overkill I think!
