Hi there, I've just received my new fan switch. It's a 97-92 degree... wich seems a bit high to mee... what do you think?

something else: not sure about wich engine oil to choose... is 15w40 ok for normal everyday use ?

Cheers !

I agree with Mark on the choice of oil, it's a perfect formulation for our Cologne V6 engines.

92 on, off at 87 ?

If it came on at 87 you certainly wouldn't want it to go off if temperature kept rising up to 92!

Me too. Excellent oil pressure even in extreme heat.

Attach it to a multimeter.
Waterproof it in plastic bag.
Stick a thermometer in.
Put in a pan on a stove and see what it does.
You might put the thermostat in too.

According to the alternative parts list:

Otter Switch Thermostatic Switch. Metro Rover Part No.
GVS 104 Team Central stated this part from Mini Metro 88-92 degree

Engine Thermostat. 1991 S3C 2.9 Quinton Hazel QTH316K Notes = 88 degrees opening
temperature.

Bedankt Baudewijn !
But the issue I have, is that all GVS104 switches (or equivalent in other brands) are given for 97-92c ...can't find that 92-88 one...
here is the Lucas equivalent : http://www.befr.ebay.be/itm/Lucas-SNB748-CDU1500-G...

Few choices here but if you're still using the original clamp on type you'll also need something like this

Thanks for the help !
I've just discovered that, the hole in the coolant pipe was well threaded ! 22mm diameter.
So it seems that I now have much more choices! Thanks for car car builderbulder link! Would 88 /79 be a clever choice ? ( I live in Belgium not in California wink
Cheers
