Hi there,

Turned the big 40 yesterday.

Various members of the family have clubbed together and I have a total of £275.00 in vouchers from Caterham.

Question is what to spend it on ?

The choices are : -

a) drift day at £249

b) half a day on track at Silverstone £275

c) hire road car for a full day £175.00

Or I can always add to the vouchers with cash and have a full day at Silverstone on track or maybe a full weekends hire of a road car.

Any recommendations?

Regards

Tim

What a great dilemma to have. There isn't a bad choice, they are all amazing. I too did the track day for my 40th before finally buying mine. It was a great experience, but having done some track days now they are on a different level.

The drift day was superb too, and I didn't know you could have so much fun in first gear.

The real downside with the experience days is the amount of car time. You leave wanting much more, and every second you are out of the car, you wish you were in it. For that reason I would say go with the hire car. You will get so much out of driving it and will give you a real idea of what they are like day to day.

^ Completely agree.

I have done the drift day - and it was fantastic - but you can't beat hiring one for a day (or even better a weekend).

Have a quiet word with Jon at Millwood to see if he's got anything in as a "demonstrator". That's what I did...

I found the Slalom day better than the drift day. . .

Aren't hire car costs refundable against a purchase? If so, use the vouchers to hire one then buy one and get double the bang for your buck!

Thats exactly what I was going to say - If you're buying from Caterham you get the hire cost refunded so you basically have a free hire.

Hire a road car, definitely.

I did it a fortnight ago and was the most fun I've ever had. Seriously, I didn't stop grinning from picking it up to dropping it off.

The car was just amazing smile (Roadsport 125 SV)

Depends what you have done before, if you are used to trackdays then taking a 7 on one will be great fun but if not I'd go for a weekend hire and just get out and play smile
