I hope someone here can help!

It's passport renewal time and I've filled in the form and went to get some photos taken.

"Excuse me sir, you'll have to take your spectacles off"

Erm my existing photo has my specs on?

"That must have been 10 years ago sir, you have to take them off"

Confused, I left minus photos as I felt my appearance would have changed (minus specs) and require a counter signature and filling in section 10 of the new passport form?

Am I being daft? Really don't fancy sending it all off with a picture minus specs and no counter signature just to incur a delay.

Anyone else have to do something similar?

Any info greatly appreciated.

Ah Ok,

Does that mean on my application I have to get section 10 filled in and my photo counter signed?

Or can I just send the picture minus specs?

Cheers T1b

I've renewed both mine in the last couple of years - one I was allowed to keep glasses on (and also did this for IRIS when it was around) but the latest one (only a couple of months ago) they said there was too much glare and made the recommendation I took them off..........one of the very few photos in existence of me as an adult without glasses on......I look weirder than normal smile

To save any hassle of delays, I would say just get the new photos countersigned and then send it all off. It takes less time to get them countersigned first than to wait for an application that might be rejected, and then you need to a set singed, and then resubmit. Just make it easy on yourself and do it right before sending it off. Less hassle really IMHO.

Do it in person, take both types of photo with you, and ask them at the counter.
