omega seamaster gifted
Discussion
Been fortunate (not really tho) to have been bequeathed a lovely seamaster when my uncle passed away last week :-(
It was serviced a few years back and keeps great time but i think the screw is damaged as it wont pop back in properly and engage with the internal threads after winding up or adjusting the time. Is this an omega service repair task now and if so how much?avoiding water at the minute obviously!

My crown fell out of my Seamaster when on holiday in Italy...my local jeweller ordered a replacement from Omega and fitted it for less than £15 IIRC.
He wasn't an Omega specialist. Still watertight and, so far, the crown has stayed put for another 5 years...(although why it failed is worrying as mine is quartz and therefore only changed with timezones or BST twice a year.)

Given the thread may be stripped I'd send it off to Omega and ask for an estimate. You don't have to accept it, and either way they should send your watch back in a decent service box... If the estimate seems too high, all you've lost is the postage cost of sending it to them. In that case, drop it into an independent watchmaker or two and ask the same question.

There are a few independents on here Steve Burrage is one who will do a proper repair for the right money. I think he is back from hols now.
Steven serviced my Speedmaster and did an excellent job at a reasonable price. He's highly recommended on here. Here's his web site http://www.rytetimewatchrepairs.co.uk/Gassing Station | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
