any real life experience with regards to the reliability and maintenance costs of an aventador vs a murcielago would be appreciated

there appear to be quite a number of aventadors in lovely colours advertised currently , and it might just be that by waiting a year or two , that the depreciation curve might work favourably
hopefully, my pre-airbag ,red, manual 355 berlinetta, should not depreciate within that time frame, to quite the same extent

capital costs aside, reliability and the dreaded maintainance costs, also play a huge part in one's enjoyment of a toy , hence this thread

the aventador will of course lack the classic bizzarrini engine , but has that gorgeous interior

can't quite think of what else has the drama and excitement of these 2 cars for the price

Hi Carspath... life is too short to wait 2 years for a toy. I would be out buying a Murcie and be done with it. there are not a large amount of them round anyway so values i think are quite stable.

This is the situation I considered when I recently bought my Aventador albeit I was looking at the possibility of a Huracan as well.
I decided to go for the Aventador in the end for a couple of reasons and that was partly because of the availability of a new Huracan which was 5-6 months and I'm not very patient.
I got the old man maths calculator out and reckoned I'd lose no more on the Aventador in my 12-18 month ownership period than the new Huracan, obviously this is just a guess but who knows!
The other thing was that I wanted a full manufacturers warranty which I couldn't get on the Murci.
What I will say is that since I've owned the Aventador I've not regretted a single moment. What I will say about these cars is they attract attention like no other I've owned and they truly are an event each time you take them out.

Carspath....I thought you had already sold the Fezza and dealt on a Murcie and that it would have been in your garage by now!!!
What happened / went wrong?

f1ten: either a murcie or an aventador would be wonderful , but I tend to keep, so am happy to wait for the right thing to come along
you had/ have 2 of my favourite cars: the series 1 mx5 and the Heffernan & greenley continental R.

just got a second series 1 mx5 , 1990 1st of the long nose uk cars , with 28k miles , in absolutely concours condition for the price of a set of murcie tyres---hugely under-rated cars .Its going into beaulieu for photography later this month as their photographic library reference example

sone: nice to know that I am not alone in my thought processes
an aventador is definitely outside the budget just now , but with a bit of time and saving......
I, and i am sure others, would be keen to know how the reliability and maintainance costs play out as the months roll on
do keep us informed

resso : yes , got a murcie literally within feet of the garage doors, but sadly not into the garage itself !!
many a slip betwixt cup and lip etc, etc
on the positive side , this now opens up the possibility of keeping my 355 for some time longer, and looking at alternatives , and the aventador is the first to come to mind
And hence this thread
