Hi Guys,
I'm over in Newport with work for a few days the week after next and have been booked to fly into Cardiff on Monday lunch-time. My first meeting isn't until Tuesday morning so I'll have a free afternoon and evening to play with! It's a part of the world I don't know so any suggestions on what I should be doing or seeing? I'll have a hire car to play with too ...
Many thanks.

if your hiring a performance car, it defo needs to see the Brecon Beacons.

All hire cars are performance cars!

Performance car or not there are some great roads you could take in on a run towards Brecon town, would certainly kill some time and be a good run even in something not too swift. The Red Lion Pub in Penderyn is a good stop for a half at the end of a good stretch of road.

The pen y fan thing is a great idea if you are a walker but you would need to head up there pretty soon after landing to do the trip and walk before you lose light.

None of the above are much fun in the rain though.

On the other hand you could go out in cardiff, get mangled and wake up late for your meeting......

Thanks guys - the Brecon run certainly sounds like a possibility and thanks for the pub tip! I'll have to see what I can coax out of the hire pound at the airport! A walk might be great but, as you say, very weather dependant. Any good transport museums in the area I should visit?
