Hi

My front tyres have plenty of tread in the centres but it is getting scrubbed off along the outside shoulders.

Which element of the front suspension geometry would contribute to this?

The car seems to steer really nicely!

Thanks

Could be toe, camber or caster. They all work together. You need to get a full alignment to sort it out.

Most likely too much toe-in if its just scrubbing the outer shoulders and not the inner - is there a sort of feathering pattern to the wear? Though if you drive it hard it might need more caster & negative camber.

If its wearing out both shoulders of each front tyre then try upping the pressures a bit.

Got a new set of Uniroyal Rain Experts fitted at work by Event followed by a full alignment at STS in Rainham, Kent.

It feels different. Not better or worse. I don't think you can really chuck a car about at the speeds necessary to determine what has improved or deteriorated on public highways.

There are so many variables with MX5 settings that it becomes confusing!

Which is why it's important to get the alignment done by someone who knows what they are doing and knows what these cars need. Someone who doesn't have the experience with the machine is just as likely to cause problems as to fix them.
