As mentioned already weight difference is bigger and the Exige came with 888s. If you stick 888s on the 111R you'll be within a tenth or two of that time.

Next time you get the opportunity see if you can get a comparison with someone with a 111R side by side. You'll be pulling away. Slowly. Above 100. biggrin
The Lotus quoted times were overly optimistic. No one got anywhere close to those in the reviews of the cars. Do not remember if the gap between the 2 were any different though
Exige originally came with AD048s, not 888s. If you upgrade a standard Elise to o48s, then the general belief is that certain parts of the suspension need upgrading/strengthening. Think toe links were one of the bits.

Not sure if it's the kind of thing you'd be after - but I've just put up my 111r for sale at a very reasonable price :-)

If you have a drive of a stage 2 supercharged VX220 you'll realise the 220 Exige is not as impressive out of the box as it should have been. The VX220 would wipe the floor with it with 250BHP and 240lb. A factory 260 would be a fairer fight.

...
Interesting thread but this quote above sums it up for me. Although I am biased...

Hmmmm.. not sure if serious. Comparison wasn't about bhp bragging rights..

Think the reply is based more on comparing 'like with like', standard v standard. That's how I read it.

Was a bit tongue in cheek hence the smiley but Simpo555 is right that comparisons should be apples with apples. It would be wrong to compare a stock 1.8l factory car running low boost to a 2l engined car with an after market system that has to show big gains to justify the costs of doing the work. The spec you mention would indeed be better compared to the 260 version and it does of course demonstrate very well what can/could have been done.

As I said earlier in the thread I personally don't think that a 220 is lacking performance in any area as a fast road car. Yes more powerful ones are available, that is the natural development of all car manufacturers as it generates the next level of sales hence the reason that the 1st 'development' was to offer the 240 and then the 260. No doubt if the V6 hadn't come along it would now have been 280, even 300. Porsche have been dong this for years with their engine developments.

A good freind of mine runs an Exige with the factory 260 upgrade, revised charge cooler and induction and a different SC pulley. It is running reliably around 320bhp (not sure on torque figures) and it blows mine away. For me this very much demonstrates what could have been done but it doesn't change my view that the 220 is more than sufficient in 99% of road use.
