And as Grojeans manager he would get 20% of his salary. EB does not strike me as an inspirational leader, or a pleasant person.
Hasn't Romain already signed up to drive for Lotus next year? ALthough of course we don't know what break clauses are in that contract?Incidentally on K Mag isnt this an issue with the current regulations? Young drivers dont get the chance to drive the car in testing etc. They used to do masses of testing where young drivers got a chance to hone their skills. Now its straight in to the car with the glare of publicity etc

bringing $30MM is hard to ignore
a few people have quoted this figure - what $30M is he bringing? Jack Jones is run by Bestseller which is owned by ASOS. ASOS's largest single shareholder is Anders Holch Povlsen. Povlsen is estimated to be worth $4 billion personally and comes from a wealthy family estimated to be worth $30 billion. They are Danish and are backing KMag.

"...but for CEO Anders Holch Povlsen his investments are apparently not going fast enough. He is the money man behind Kevin Magnussen's acceleration from Formula 3 to motorsports grandest class."
"According to BT newspaper http://www.bt.dk/ they estimate that Bestseller business via Jack & Jones' sponsorship has contributed the majority of the 40 million kroner ($6MM USD) expenses related to Kevin Magnussen's development towards the top."
"Bestsellers sponsorship has meant that Kevin has had access to the best teams in the world where he has got the chance to show how good he is. It has given us the freedom to define the ultimate career plan, because we have their support." said Magnussen's manager, Dorte Riis Madsen"
"Cooperation slowed however up with Magnussen's signature to the McLaren team. Formula 1 team has namely a sponsorship deal with clothing brand Hugo Boss, and it prevents the young Dane's collaboration with another textile company."

ASOS stuff
ta - didn't know that - I had looked at KMs somewhat rubbish webpage for personal backers and nothing jumped out as it just lists McLaren 'partners'. Hugo Boss are leaving F1 completely and will be doing more golf and tennis....leisure wear not brand association. Ron wants Ralph Lauren but they don't need or want F1. I think the commercial team are looking to Japan for a clothing supplier for next year, not Europe.
Grosjean has Total Oil as his personal backer and that won't be helping him move to McLaren......even though they are leaving Lotus as an on car backer.

Unfortunately I'm really starting to dislike Ron Dennis !!!!
As a big Mclaren fan I would love one if his road cars but the way they are treating Jenson and the fact Ron gives the impression he has no respect for the fans means next year I will be supporting Williams !!!
The team that dropped Damon Hill at the end of his world championship year having made the decision the season after he was robbed of a championship having been deliberately hit by another driver? They treat their drivers well!As a big Mclaren fan I would love one if his road cars but the way they are treating Jenson and the fact Ron gives the impression he has no respect for the fans means next year I will be supporting Williams !!!

Almost, ASOS doesnt own Bestseller, but Anders/Bestseller do own a large share in ASOS.andyps said:

Hmmm with all respect to Claire Williams she wasnt long at secondary school when that happened, it's her train set now. She appears to be doing a fine job. Williams now is not the same as when DH got the boot.andyps said:

Hill was told at the end of 95 they wouldn't be renewing his contract at the end of 96. Despite what the press tried to make people believe he wasn't dropped after winning the championship he was dropped before that. DanielSan said:

Proves that all this bks about the 'integrity' of a team and fans being lost for ever more is a load of tosh.

Unless this has changed recently, Boss ARE off to Merc AMG. That's what Wolff said, anyway.with Stroll's licensing agreement with Lauren, I'd imagine he'd try to influence them to talk to a Ferrari too.

Very true. Ultimately, FW and RD, like it or loathe it, are businessmen who got to where they are today through hard work, hard headidness and bloody mindedness. That's enough of the nessess already! Gassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
