Coming home on the M25 earlier and the gantry signs indicated 50 MPH within the red circle and I got flashed while doing 70 MPH along with about 10 other cars that were in front/behind me. I've only been driving for 4 months so I expect the book to be thrown at me for this.

What's the most likely outcome?

Probably 3 points and a hundred quid by way of a fixed penalty.

70 on the speedo could be say 66, and it looks like your OK up to 75 in a 50.

The NIP must turn up with the Registered Keeper within 14 days - you'll just have to wait.

Given that 6 points in the first 2 years sends you back to a provisional licence, why are you speeding at all?

Fairly sure we've all been there

The embarrassment, what I should have said is I think 'you're' OK up to 75 in a 50 and still be in line for fixed penalty.

3 points and £100 fine most likely.

Too quick for a SAC, I believe the cut off for that is 64mph (from the ACPO guidelines AGTLaw posted up a while back).

Whether the same rules apply for temporary 50s on the motorway, not sure.

Not in my first two years. I pretty much forgot what an accelerator was during that time.

OP - you'll get 3 points I imagine however, without wanting to get preachy, that's a silly 3 points to get. Where you know the limit and where you know there are cameras, just slow down.

Thought the consensus was the cameras on the M25 weren't actually sending tickets?

Does anyone know someone who's received an M25-related nasty through the post?

Nobody has reported getting a ticket from these cameras yet, so you'll probably be OK.

Nope, I'm fairly sure many people haven't.

Have you considered not speeding?

As above, I didn't even drive in my first two years, just kept the car locked in a garage and insured it.

I don't speed anymore due to trying to save money on fuel, unfortunately this time I wasn't paying attention.
The amazing correlation between speeding and fuel consumption. You obviously do speed btw, as you've just been flashed doing just that.

I do feel sorry for all these poor people who get caught the one time they speed. I must be very lucky as I speed most of the time and haven't been caught since 1999.

Believe it or not, but I rarely speed. This is just the one occasion that I did and I've now got to pay for it.

"Never", "rarely" and "one occasion" all used to describe the frequency with which you speed. All have different meanings. Just admit you speed and get over it instead of bleating about it.

That was the case for several years, but changed about 2 years ago
