Howdee pilgrims.

I'm posting this thread to see if there's an interest in a group buy for the gearbox inspection panel cover thing?
I'm unsure on numbers available and cost at this point but it won't be horrific I'm sure.
Post if you'd want one subject to price and availability.
Thanks, russell.

If this a 100mm grommet then it is the same as the one below the fuel tank in a Tuscan which I am after. So that would be two for me.

Do you mean like this for £2.93 each scratchchin

Ross Handling are in Leicester, if the above is not what you're after give them a call as they have lots of grommets & rubber bungs that aren't on their webs site.

If they don't have it (which I doubt) I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction.

Russell, put me down for at least two subject of course to price, availability etc. I have one already for one of my Griffs (sorry to swear on this forum....!) so you can use that as a template if they are not available commercially. Thanks for doing this. Pete

I'd be interested in one as a spare - in case I loose the one I have.

The one on mine isn't round more like an rectangle with rounded ends

Ditto mine I am fairly sure, I'll take a photo later and post it here just to make sure we don't go off on tangents. Pete

Well it shows how wrong you can be. You know what they say about us men, we are not aware of our bodies as much as women.....! So my large dark hole is round, 100mm or 4 in. in diameter and this is on a T5 gearbox married to a 500 engine. I would still like 2 or 3 but I must check the 'Green Meanie' as well because although they are both 95 cars, no doubt TVR changed the spec....! Pete

Hmmmm - I'll have to check mine now. Seeing that picture has made me think again. I might be confusing it with the one on my old S2

For heavens sake boys it's just a plug, no one will ever see it and how critical is it anyway?

I'd hazard a guess most Chims & Griffs lost their rubber bell housing grommet years ago (mine included) & I've never heard of any issues.

If you really want to fill the hole then £2.93 seems a fair price to me, the design looks like it'll hold in there better and being plastic it wont be affected by oil like the rubber original either (which is why they go baggy & fall out BTW).

So just buy the better one I've linked to for £2.93, and if you're really stuck on the group buy idea the supplier Ross will drop the price to £2.15 if you buy 25.

I work not far from them and although my car still has its bung I could go and get a load but the ballache would be posting them out.
Ideas?

A lot of these websites add a minimum postage charge because its too onerous to weigh every product they sell.

I suggest calling them as they'll probably see reason and charge a more realistic postage fee. Its the same with Clever Trevor/Racing Green, call them and the postage for light items usually goes down.

Definitely worth a call.

The other option would be for someone to buy 25 and sell them individually on the PH TVR parts classifieds page for £7.00 including postage, there's a £3.50 profit there for every one you sell wink

Or an £87.50 profit once you've sold all 25, fek me chaps I should be on Dragons Den laugh

I bet people would buy them at £7.00 too, after all there's a guy on there right now selling 1/2" BSP domestic radiator blanking plugs for £6.00 offering them as TVR swirl pot caps hehe

Fair play to him I say but lets be frank here, you can nip down your local plumbers merchant and buy just such a 1/2" BSP blanking plug (with 'O' ring) for £0.98p including the VAT.

I'm never one to knock the good old capitalist market economy, but sometimes you have to take your hat off to the cheek of some people.

It's a funny old world rolleyes
