Hi all

I"ve been looking at the ACT website and come across the performance manifolds with cats. Does anyone have these fitted or any knowledge of the difference I might see? Expensive but are they worth it? I"m not after more noise as I still want to stay below track noise limits.

Any advice welcome,.

cheers

I am thinking about a set of those but without the cats. They are supposed to generate a bit more torque due to the longer primaries I think a figure of 20 ft/lb has been mentioned on these forums before.

I have both fitted, hard to say if any performance increase but you will have to ditch the cats if your above 400hp

Noise wise it's spot on

I have a set of these, very lovely things!
Had them on about 18 months now but seem to remember the car feeling slightly more lively after fitting. Keep meaning to put it back on the rollers but never got round to it.
I have the cat replacement pipes but have never fitted them, I'm told they release a few more horses/torques.
Nicely made and sound very, very nice. They are expensive but I got mine second hand (ex-demo from Tim at ACT) so I'm happy with my bang for buck.
Where are you in the SW, I'm in Devon if you want a poke around mine.
Also give Tim a ring, he's very helpful, knowledgable and wont give you the hard sell.

why do you need to ditch the cats above 400hp (I"m not, just curious smile )

Thanks for the offer, I"m in North Somerset. I"m worried if I pick up the phone to Tim I"ll end up with them. I"m struggling a little with the man maths at the moment smile
I do think I NEED some though smile

The cats will hold back the power as they wont flow enough , wouldn't let me get above 450 with them fitted

I had mine made via wedge in Sheffield.
I had the cats removed and replaced by a ss y piece as I used to race her and wanted the extra hp

Got a set w/decat pipes (legal in NL as it's an import from before 1/1/94) when the OE manifolds started leaking at the 4-1 joint as they all seem to do at some point. It's been probably four of five years ago and they still look lovely to behold, sound is spot on with the OEM exhaust, no problems at all which was what I was looking for, a ' take a deep breath, fit once and delete from the list of issues forever' solution.

They give a bit more midrange torque too by design, hard to quantify as I've not done a before/after RR with just the manifolds.

I do get 300 PS-DIN at 6,000 rpm from a small valve 4.3, though. scratchchinsmile

Had the ACT on for about 2 years along with the ACT Chery bomb system. The front pipes include cats but also have the straight through for those days when noise is required.

its all been awesome....
