The multi-mode transfer box. I can select between:
  • 2wd Hi
  • 4wd Hi with open center diff
  • 4wd Hi with locked center diff
  • 4wd Lo with locked centre diff
This means I can have 2wd most of time for economy (and sliding round like an idiot in the snow), 4Hi open for when the roads are a bit slippy, 4Hi locked for when they are properly snowed under and 4Lo locked for going off road.

Noticed a new one on the Audi, you get an extra wipe of the windscreen wipers a few seconds after using them with the screen wash to get the last bit wiped after a few seconds of driving.

Works well!

The fact the radio doesn't turn down and the wiper doesn't wipe when I reverse. Until such time I become an invalid who can't press buttons, I don't need the car to do it for me. And if I want to move the mirror I'll that myself as well.

Did one want a starter motor to start his engine, or will you do it manually.....

...... things which just make driving that little bit easier smile
Starting handle on MG Magnette automatic 1966 (model name would be IV I suppose). Very useful when the battery goes flat, inhibitor switch dies or you want to impress people in a pub carpark. Bit of a bugger though if you leave it in "drive" with the choke out. Good runner? You'll need to be...

What small, seemingly insignificant features on your car do you like that many might not think twice about?

For me, I love the absolutely enormous arm rest; it just makes it feel so much more relaxing.

Another is the auto park feature is nice, once you come to a stop the parking brake will come on so you can take your foot off the brake.... It's nice and also helps prevent you blinding the person behind you.

So, over to you.
Haha,

I have a 1.3 CDTI Corsa van and you know the handles for driver and passenger inside above your head that sort of fold down? well the drivers one is actually a flip down sunglasses holder its awesome.

The solar panel sunroof in my A8.

When you lock the car and there's bright sunlight, the solar panel runs the interior fans so it's not red hot when you return to the car.

Genius biggrin

Head up display on a Toyota Prius is pretty cool. Being able to see your speed/nav directions without taking eyes off the road is a real plus!

This also happens on my Fiesta, great feature. Also love the variable intermittent wipe, can change the gap between wipes.

Also when the engine is off if you turn the light switch from off to sidelights and back to off the dipped beams will come on and stay on forever when the car is unlocked and turn off 30 seconds after you lock the car. Great when it's dark and you need to see the way to the front door etc.

Hated it when Mrs Hooli had a '58 plate fiesta, all it ever did was smear the now clean screen so it needed washing again.

I Like the picture of an Evoque which gets projected onto the floor from the mirrors of my L538 (ironic use of code having already named the car)

Another one from me: The fact that when the windows are open and I use half throttle or more from low speeds, I can hear a split second of turbo spooling before it starts really accelerating. Almost like saying "ready..go!"
It sounds good and means that if it's dry outside I often open the windows a bit just to hear the mini-jet like noise smile

Holy thread resurrection

Footwell lights increase in illumination when the handbrake is applied.
Tilt sensor in the auto 'box that changes down when you press the brake pedal for ~2 seconds when descending a hill.
Reversing camera - really useful when parking in tight spots.
Ignition barrel that you have the press the key into to release.

It never fails to start and never breaks down.

(Most of the cars I had in the last century came nowhere near that minimum requirement!)
