Found these stats from almost 5 years ago which may be of interest to S owners waiting for a result. Odds of a pass are pretty good though !!

Mine was in last week. It initially failed as the wipers were not parking ( thanks Neil at ML Performance Parts for getting one sent up quickly ! ). The reason for fail was put down as 'Sticker on screen obscuring driver's view' or something very similar. The garage said it was the closest description they could find for the fault !

Mine just failed on rusty brake servo, reading some posts on here I thought they were getting hard to get hold of. Mine is the ford one, garage seems to think he can get one easy enough as he replaced one last year. What sort of price roughly should I expect to pay?

Hi Chris, servo prices seem to vary enormously, I've just put 1.8 diesel Fiesta (not saying this the right one, just a sample) into EuroCarParts search and two come up, one at £85 and another at nearly £100 more!

I guess whatever your garage decide to charge for a servo plus 2 or 3 hours to fit, so by the time you've added VAT and so on I wouldn't expect too much change from a "monkey" wink

Could you ask them not to bin the old 'un, would be useful as a pattern for sourcing alternatives, thanks, Mike.

A tad over the top! If your brakes work ok then it's a pass.

I have got to know my car so well, especially the potential MOT issues, that my MOT guy asks me if there are any issues he should be looking at! I have got to know him well enough that he has had me sign an indemnity and I now go under with him to do a thorough underside check. Last time we found a tiny fluid weep, not enough even for an advisory but something I have sorted since. I suppose that is what comes of making friends with the local garage.

Well it just goes to prove you don't always get what you pay for....
MOT failed on top steering column u/j ... the very same one I replaced only 2 years ago with a notably expensive £57.65 plus VAT, but available to collect same day.
So have bought the one for £19.95 plus vat and postage and will be patient until monday for delivery.

Cheers, everyone. Just as I thought he is having trouble getting one! He replaced one last year on a V8S used for Hillclimbing...Whitchurch, Anyone on here? He passed that one looking about as bad as mine and it went on him apparently! Anyway if thats the right one Joe? May have to get it, Has been something I wanted to replace ever since having the car its always been very rusty but it really is bad underneath now so dont mind the fail. Anywhere cheaper than the one Joe recommends? and is it the right one?n I know mine is ford...

Check the bore size if you're going to use the "new" master cylinder.

Don't expect the 19.95 one to last any longer if it is the same 19.95 plus vat one that I purchased from an often recommended vendor. Mine lasted less than a year before it too developed developed a bit of play. There is a lot of crap out there these days, it is the price we have to pay when purchasing pattern parts.

Hi Chris, I suspect that one will be OK. Could you do me a favour though when you get it, and post a couple of pics, particularly showing the mountings and the piping. Plus check and confirm the bore. All additional info of potential help to us all!
Glen is right, the servo is much more exposed on the S than the Fiesta so it should be sound. Well worth giving it another coat of paint before installing it on the S though, the original paint is pretty basic.
The template for redrilling your bulkhead, plus notes on the small mod necessary to mate with the pedal, are all on the main posts on the brake servo subject.

If you come up with any fitting problems please feel free to email me.

At least £20 every 2 years is better than £60 but plan to treat with loads of grease and wrap in an ex Rack gaitor, to keep weather out.

Or "in" if you don't get the gaiter to seal 100% scratchchin
