If you can't get the real thing it's well worth catching 'Nearly Dan' - they seem to be a pretty busy band, dates not hard to find.

AJA

First heard of tem via the FM soundtrack. Turns out there are some differing versions of the FM song which was why when I sold off my LP collection the FM soundtrack attracted a lot of interest.

Citizen Steely Dan is a good (very good IMHO) compilation and a good intro.
Aja on 'Classic Albums".

Reeling in the Years has a great riff for any budding guitarists to exercise their fingers.

Pretzel logic

Actually they are all awesome. Amazing studio musicians on these records.
I use some of theIr songs to teach harmony and chord progressions.

Agreed... though listening to it recently it's astonishing how much they speed up from top to tail.

Quite. And just in case any of you are as nurdy as me... I had a look round and at the bottom of a draw in a dark room I found the scrumpled up tab. Sounds great on a guitar but is a bugger to sing at the same time!

Feel free to d/load and play! >> http://stevecarter.com/random/nurdy1.jpg (nurds!)

Been loving this remix all year. It features on most of the latest Greg Wilson mixes which I think are fantastic!
Hope the link works.

Apart from adding some speech at the start and adding some over ramped distortion to the hi-hat cymbals which has the effect of losing Michael McDonalds great vocals from that track. Does that really justify a new track - it's like a cut and paste.

As you might have guessed - I don't like it.

Ruins Rick Marotta's great drum beat too.

Big fan here - The Dan are just superb.

I've got all the albums, everything Fagen has done solo, recently ordered Rosie Vela's album as they were involved with that, also have his "Eminent Hipsters" book waiting to be read on the shelf etc...
