Hi there,

My wife and I bought my son a drifting day at Oulton Park as part of his 21st birthday present. It was the first time for him to take his MX5 out and both he and I (as I passengered with him) thoroughly enjoyed it and we will certainly be doing it again.

There was a great selection of cars out on track and these drift days seem to me to be a great day out for hardly any investment. My son drove his car to the track, drove it pretty much non stop for 7 hours and then drove it home again. The car cost him £1100 and the drift day cost me £129 seems like a bargain.

He plans on some more power for the car as its a little under powered but apart from that we are sure to return to get the track perfected.

Heres some pics of his car and him drifting

Yes he kept the drift in the photo below, quite a save !

and this is how the car looked at the end of the day. With a very happy driver.

Here are some of the other cars out on track during the day

This guy was on it all day, absolutely nailing each corner and in a car that I imagine would be worth a few grand if it was in decent condition.

Hope you like the pics.

Regards

Tim

Hi Tim, some great photos there. I agree with you, The oulton park drift day is a great value day out when you think of how much track time compared to a normal track day you get, and obviously you don't get in trouble for going sideways!

By the way, I was driving the red BMW 3 series coupe, K565VPJ, don't suppose, you have any more shots of that? Would be cool to see them if so!

Best regards,
George.

Looks like great fun! MX5s really are brilliant for thrashing all day long without a worry.

And I was driving the red rx8 :-)

Top day, especially fun in the very heavy rain in the afternoon

It's a brilliant day of slide ways action, but I got caught out on a unseasonably dry November day when I did mine.

They only watered the track about once an hour, and after 20-30 minutes it was bone dry again.

Had new tyres on standby anyway, but thought I'd get home with at least some tread on the tyres - I was wrong!

That was me in the E36 touring. Was sharing the car with my girlfriend.

Done about 4 of these days now, first off in my 328i track car then decided to use the old touring as a dedicated drift shed, stripped out the rear and welded up the diff!

Would be a shame if they did stop these days as they're a great way of learning some car control in a safe environment.

I was also there in the black mk1 mx5 (k867cbo)
It really is great day out, especially for those in lower powered cars.
No need for fancy diffs either, my car still has a viscous unit and only occasionally span 1 wheel as the surface is so slippery!

Thought that car had a welder with the way it was drifting, nice work!

I was struggling abit as my car (the blue mx5) had so much grip. Once it was going the car was quite fast and very controllable. Think i need less tyre/more pressure, 30 psi on t1rs was quite grippy.

I was on T1Rs aswell but there seemed to be some parts of the track that were much more slippery than others, especially on the left hand track

Got any details of how you managed to book this? I've looked on the Oulton website but I can't find anything about drifting available.

Hi there,

Its here : -

http://www.msvtrackdays.com/car/products/drifting....

However I think all the dates for 2014 may have taken place so you might need to check the link from time to time for 2015 events.

Does anyone know if these days have been killed off by the powers at be?

Hi there,

I believe there will be more dates, but think they have probably stopped them due to the time of year.

Keep an eye on the Oulton Park website as thats how I booked it.

Regards

Tim
