I guess having ambulance crews take risks to resuscitate people, or police to visit homes of bereaved familes is ok to you is it? And what about the £millions spent on inquests? All ok is it so you can satisfy the bloodhungry lust of the uneducated?
Sorry, I really dont understand what point you are trying to make here? Jimboka said:
Pretty surprising that so many heartless & crass comments have been allowed on a public forum TBH, even where reported . Nobody's death should be celebrated or condoned . What's up with you guys?

its not the sort of place where he would get a lot of sympathy and as far as I am concerned he deserves none.Time to leave methinks..

Bike thief orchestrates his own demise. Very few people demonstrate an 'outpouring of grief' shock. Time to leave methinks..
Nobody's death should be celebrated or condoned. Hitler? Bin Laden?

your opinion, for what it is worth.
I would happily celebrate many peoples death, for example, most people who cause misery to others.

About 20 years ago I had my bicycle stolen. That bike was bought by me having worked long hours at low wage as a school boy, and was my pride and joy. At the time I'd have thought drowning was too good for the thief.
With 2 decades to reconsider that view, I probably think that drowning would be about right.
Better hope you don't get burgled and lose something genuinely precious then. Otherwise your decades long suppressed sense of bitter rage will kill you, and the thief will be laughing his tits off. With 2 decades to reconsider that view, I probably think that drowning would be about right.
As an aside, my wife recently told me I'm not "allowed" to cycle along the tow path of the local canal, as I might fall in.
Apparently I am "allowed" to cycle on unlit, unclassified single track roads, where the frequent users, see the NSL as a target.
I think my response to this was "Yeah, I could fall in and have a heart attack due to the sudden cold, so I'll just have to give up cycling altogether, as it's obviously too dangerous put on 6 stone and die of a heart attack anyway. Or maybe I could get better lights?"

The press are saying that the IPCC are investigating the actions of MoD and civilian police in this incident.
Someone was telling me that that harbour isn't that deep there, so any thoughts I had about jumping in to get the chap out may not have been that clever.
One press report mentioned 'rising water levels'. As the harbour has a lock gate type entrance perhaps the deceased suspected bicycle thief became submerged if they opened the lock gate to allow the rescue boats in?

You can't just "open a lock gate" - gates open outwards, held closed by the pressure of water. Someone was telling me that that harbour isn't that deep there, so any thoughts I had about jumping in to get the chap out may not have been that clever.

1. He was trapped between the harbour wall and a big old boat. Jumping in to save him would be madness no matter how deep the water. One press report mentioned 'rising water levels'. As the harbour has a lock gate type entrance perhaps the deceased suspected bicycle thief became submerged if they opened the lock gate to allow the rescue boats in?
2. He was drowning because he couldn't swim and the water was too deep for him to stand in from the very beginning. Extra water wouldn't make any difference.
3. It's a harbour for yachts so the water level is always maintained at a high level so the boats remain afloat. The lock is opened when the water outside is high enough. i.e. opening the lock would only ever lower the water level if anything. (And as above, you can't open it then anyway.)

Time to leave methinks..
You clearly have no idea of how much misery and distress this kind of 'petty' crime causes for ordinary law abiding people.Time to leave methinks..
My parents, who are in their 60's, had their house burgled for the first time ever about 6 months ago. They live in the countryside and a a good few hundred metres from the nearest other property, and surrounded by fields on all sides.
They were away for a long weekend at the time robbery, and the thieves entered 3 rooms separately from the outside of the house by prising out windows from their frames. We assume this was to avoid detection by the alarm sensors which mainly operate in all the hallways and external doors.
They made a total mess as they ransacked the rooms they entered which included my dads office and their bedroom, clearly looking for cash, jewellery etc.
Numerous things were broken as they gained access to locked items in the office and bedroom.
Thankfully, my parents had put anything of value in their safe before they went away, and the thieves pretty much got nothing bar some cash and a couple of lower value watches. We think it was the discovery of a few hundred in cash and watches that persuaded them to scarper rather than start on antiques and paintings etc.
The effect on my parents personally was shocking. My mum was upset for weeks and my dad was utterly incandescent with anger.
The police were useless and pretty much said "tough luck, it happens. we probably won't catch them. Sorry about that".
My mum no longer felt safe sleeping in their own bedroom and insisted they move into one of the other bedrooms which faces the driveway rather than open fields and trees.
They feel absolutely violated that some scumbags would intrude upon and desecrate their home in such a way.
My mum is still a bit upset over it and worries they will come back for more, and my dad is asking me how he can go about legally getting a shotgun or other weapons, of which I have talked him out of.
If I got told right now that the criminals responsible had crashed their car and died in a fireball while fleeing another burglary then you know what, I would feel quite satisfied.
For all the expense and distress these scumbags cause? fk them.

After my mother died I was trying up her house - everything had been removed but I was going down every evening (about 40 miles away) and cleaning the place up. One time someone had broken in - jemmied door and broken doorframe. Nothing of value stolen, but jeez I was absolutely furious...and 4 years later when I think about it I still am.
If I was made aware they had died as a consequence of one of their other 'petty' crimes would I celebrate? Actually...yes. I would gladly toast their demise with a 'good riddance'. And consequently I will celebrate the removal of any other thieving scum from decent society.

Lots of people's deaths can be celebrated. Murderers who show no remorse can happily be celebrated. Child abductors. etc. I will happily smile and feel happier if they are no longer alive.Time to leave methinks..
As for a thief stealing a bike and dying as he tries to escape the police through a self inflicted injury? I won't be shedding a tear.
