Motorbase testing with 2 focus today at brands looked very good and went very well good to see them back.

Simon Belcher may be out for the rest of the season.
Car has suffered irreparable damage & the costs involved now are substantial to say the least.
Real shame as there was absolutely nothing he could have done to avoid the shunt. But that's racing I guess.

He has set up a crowd funding page to try to get him back on the grid.

Cheers, Al.

I'm amazed how he gets away with it. His driving standards are really poor.
Yes Neal has for years. Always puzzled me why stewards usually turn a blind eye to his blatant strokes but jump on others less frequently guilty. Plato is an angel in comparison.

I dislike Matt Neal intensely.

Why? Apart from his piss poor driving at times, as well as his arrogance, he was signing some autographs in a coffee shop in Birmingham a couple of years ago for some large chested fairly attractive young 'ladies'.

When my 8 year son asked him for an autograph he refused point blank saying that he was 'too busy'.

Looks like the team is slowly imploding. I expect Infiniti aren't interested in a team that spends it's time at the back of the grid, which is fair enough.

Sorry if this has already been covered somewhere in one of the BTCC threads but what are the rules around which cars can actually be used as a base for a touring car?

IIRC must be 4 door and fit the length & width requirements. 2 wheel drive. Must use the standard front subframe. 2 litre turbo 4 cylinder (or use the TOCA engine). Loads ore requirements but thats the basis.

Purely hypothetical but I could enter a MK2 Golf if I wanted, assuming the front subframe would fit and it passes the necessary crash tests?

I think its got to be a current (or at least recent) car. not 100% sure on that.

I always wondered as they were using the MG ZS, Integra Type-R and Vectra for such a long time.

That's old specs cars before ngtc became the single rule set.
Golf could be used but would need arches to comply with the rules.

What a shambles the infiniti team are wont be surprised to see them not finish the year but tbh never understand why the manufacture supported them in the first place seems a very strange set up.
Another team I cant see surviving are the protons too.

I suspect the race performance is least of infinity's problems. The whole setup smells fishy. Reminiscent of Neate...

"Base vehicle must be freely on sale in the UK through the manufacturer's normal dealer network"

That rule would kill the Mk2 Golf entry...
