An alternative option could be Blackburn? Just down the road from Kintore, has a Co-op, pub and takeaway.
I nearly looked into moving to Kintore (first time buyer) last year, but decided against it as there's not much to do for a single 20 something. No pubs nothing. Staying put in Inverurie until I can afford to buy my own place in Inverurie.
I see there's also a lot of new builds up in Kemnay, reputation of being a little rougher, but I think if you're in the new builds it seems a bit better.
But if you're set on Kintore and found a place by all means. It's a nice area and many options if you're willing to drive. In terms of Golf courses, you're a 10 minute drive to Kemnay, Inverurie, Westhill and Newmacher who all have their own Golf courses, so you can take your pick. I know a few people in Kintore and Blackburn who usually chose to go to Westhill for their weekly shops to avoid the "Nightmare traffic" of Inverurie after work.

Get used to neighbours with more siblings than teeth and you'll be fine.
We moved out of Aberdeen to get more space for our money and, being a country boy, we wanted to bring our kids up in the sticks too.
We bought a croft, converted the Steading and ended up with a 350m2 house and a 120m2 rental cottage with 6 acres of grass and woodland, a burn and some ponds for the price of a much smaller house in Aberdeen. Rural living won't be for everyone but you certainly get a lot for your money by moving out of town...
If moving out west of Aberdeen expect stty lane discipline on the A96.
Travelling East – Wazzocks sitting at 60/65 in lane 2 of dual carriageway from Inverurie just because they are turning off to Westhill at the 1st Blackburn roundabout.
Travelling West – Wazzocks sitting at 60/65 in lane 2 of dual carriageway from Dyce just because they are turning off to Kintore or Inverurie.
One good thing is that the A96 is usually pretty clear when it snows due to the volume of traffic and because it is one of the first roads gritted.
