Saw this last night, some really fine acting scenes with palpable tension coupled with some intense battle scenes, however some bits didn't gel for me, particularly how ze germans were portrayed during battle and the wardaddy firing from the top of his tank in full view of the enemy for an unfeasible amount of time. There was also a scene prior to the pivotal battle that dragged on way too long, what were ze germans up to, making a brew!! Still good though, 7.5/10.

Kind of the SS troops to give them a nice pause during the final battle whenever our heroes wanted a bit of a cry and a chat with each other. Thought it was a good film until that rather silly final scrap.

Sounds like how Audie Murphy got his Medal of Honour in WW2. Only he was using the .50 calibre gun on the top of a knocked out M10 Tank Destroyer. Despite being injured, he kept firing for around an hour until he ran out of ammo.

Quite a guy. Not just for this incident either.

I've just watched it.
It was ok dipped in Hollywood bullst but anything that lets younger ones know about ww2 is never a bad thing in my opinion

did people like the scene in the middle with the two German ladies? liked the way the US soldiers were presented as not 100% good either but I just didn't find it that believable

they invade anenemy house and the Germans must be nervous as hell, yet the young sleeps with a soldier after 30 seconds of mutual piano playing?

Caught this in the afternoon, mark of a good movie is the reaction of the audience after the film. In a full packed cinema, not a single whisper was heared, everyone sat motionless. Yes the ending was very Hollywood but as a whole it showed a side of the war rarely seen in blockbusters, the dirty gritty side. And it did that as good as the very best of them.

I felt like I had been dragged through every scene by my ears, with every shot, bomb and shell vibrating the seat the sound system was obviously cranked up to the max.

Have to say the performances were all excellent, especially Shia Labeouf. Never would I have thought he was capable of such a performance after watching the Transformers tripe. But he managed to completley captivate a broken man who has been through hell brilliantly.

Overall i'd recommend it to anyone. The finale will annoy a lot of people I suspect but the rest of the film was more then good enough to make up for it. Solid 8.5/10 from me.

I watched this last night on a whim, thought it was a solid 3 out of 5. I felt it was competently acted, and Shia LB was good in his role even though the dialogue didn't stand out.

Guess if you like this sort of movie you'll probably love it, its loud and gruesome (not that there is anything wrong with that).

Would say that I might have enjoyed it more had the dialogue been more audible, couldn't tell if it was the cinema sound system or the editing but the first third of the film was lots of inaudible words with the occasional swear word!

Not just me then, I really struggled understanding the bloke out of the walking dead, the reloader. The SFX were the best I have ever heared but I think that has a lot to do with the cinemas sound system. The seats quite literally shook with every explosion, it was fantastic. But when it came to some of the dialogue it sounded like a lot of mumbling.

Thought your issue would have been SEEING the film Magoo! wink

Glad it wasn't just me, we watched it at a small independent cinema so had wondered about sound quality. "Shane" was indeed totally incomprehensible!

Mrs Magoo is the one with the poor sight so must confess to sitting near the front wink She hated the film, but I see it as payback for dragging me to see 'what if' (terrible by the way)

Shane, that's the chap. His strong accent didn't help, will get it on DVD and watch it again with subtitles.

I think the army camp was based near Hambledon in Oxfordshire.

I was walking in the area in 2013 & saw some evidence of it.
I'll ask my nephew as he's in it, definite case of blink and you'll miss him I'm sure!

I saw this at the cinema tonight, what an experience. Definitely one of the grittiest warm films I've seen, the action scenes were top notch and the characters were interesting so it wasn't a drag when they weren't shooting. In terms of humans, the cast were excellent with Jon Bernthal being a particular highlight, but the real stars were the tanks, that amazing Tiger (borrowed from Bovingdon tank museum) and of course the "Fury" Easy 8.

Haha I knew you'd like it! I'm getting the soundtrack, bloody loved it. Just a shame the credits music isn't on it. :/

I went on my lonesome (wife not interested) to the cinema yesterday to watch.

Great action scenes (apart from the end which was daft) but not nearly enough of them. I was disappointed overall. Too much waffle and it annoyed me that such care had been taken in painting an accurate image of certain aspects of 'war' only to then go and do a number of things that would be tactically dumb and/or completely unrealistic.

Saw this at the weekend with absolutely no expectations (I knew Brad Pitt was in it and there was a tank involved somehow). I absolutely loved everything about it. It was well written, superbly acted, shocking, gritty, exciting - everything I want from a cinema experience. The tank battles were fantastic (and so very loud!), you really got a sense of how powerful they were.

The scene with the two German women after the rest of the tank crew arrived was done brilliantly, I could really feel the tension.

My only gripe is that I found it very hard to believe that only one of the German soldiers thought to look under the tank after the final battle but, the quality of the film as a whole makes that very easy to forgive.

Really liked this, its a tough, mans film. Really liked the scene with the Tiger, the sense of fear and of how powerful it was compared to the Shermans
