oh yes, love this stuff. wish it was more widely available

I like Okocim as well, but at 7% you wont want too many. Zywiec Bock is lovely too, rather like the dark leffe, only £1 a can

Staropramen is now the preferred everyday lager in my beer fridge. By the case, it's no more expensive than Stella and tastes far superior.

With you there. Originated as a gift from the Carlsberg brewery to Winston Churchill.

Love all those except Zubr, is that the one that's 6% with the byson on the front? Just haven't enjoyed it like all the other Polish stuff, Less danger of a headache with Lech being 'only' 5.2%

+1 on the Bavaria suggestions, been drinking it since a trip to Amsterdam

Oh if anyone actually likes Stella 4.8%, Aldi sell a re branded version fairly cheaply

You shouldn't be bothered about that measurement and should concentrate on the taste.

It's a bit like judging food by how many calories it has. It's just completely wrong.

Stop it.

I stopped buying Holsten Pils after getting so many cloudy ones (bottles).

Is there anywhere you can buy Belgian Stella from? I can't seem to find any locally and not having had any for a while, the UK brewed was disappointing.

Ruddles tastes odd to me. In any form it tastes like it comes out of a plastic bottle. This was one of the few drinks available at student parties almost 40 years ago. It was always in a large plastic bottle. The taste remains seared into memory. In a bad way!

I looked in to this earlier in the year as County was a beer from my youth, loved the flavour but couldn't have too many.

I'd bought it a few times since when on special offer and always been disappointed. Turns out it's now a different brew altogether from a different brewery.

I actually miss the old stronger stella. Watching 2 pints of lager & a packet of crisps earlier in the week and noticed the old style cans. How I miss that fuller taste. Now the cans are crap.

Maybe give this place a try http://www.grainstorebrewery.com/index.asp
When Ruddles changed hands many years ago, Tony the head brewer left Ruddles and started his own brewery using very similar recipes to the old Ruddles beers.

Thank you!

I'd always assumed Rutland was near Northumberland so I've learnt two things.

Old Crafty Hen (6.5%), a beer in a similar mould, is currently 4 for £6 at Tesco.

In my old team we used to have the phrase ABP.

"What do you fancy?"

"ABP mate"

(Anything But Peroni.)

Pints of that stuff is f*cking lethal.
