Would definitely take one of these over the very silly and half baked Coope S. Instead of the Clio, well that is a more difficult decision.

Great little car but reliabilty was always an issue, gearbox exploded and numerous electrical issues. I've since ran a fiesta, golf and now a 1 series. Can't see myself returning to Fiat anytime soon!
I used to work with somebody who had an old Civic gearbox explode at 120K with no known abuse or problems. I wouldn't let it put you off the brand for life because crap happens. You buy a Mercedes and the gearbox explodes you'd assume it's a one-off defect/fault or has been abused by previous owners. Don't think if it happened to your Fiat it's happened because it's a Fiat. The gearbox is made by a supplier like ZF/Getrag/Borgwarner not by Fiat anyway.

faux alcantara eh ? Well I never !

Lol alcantara is just faux/fake suede and is a trademark I think. Therefore any fake suede could be identical in quality to 'Alcantara' but you just can't call it 'Alcantara' because it''s a trademark.
As far as I know anyway.
I'm boring myself now typing that so I'll stop there. biggrin

It's (a) too expensive, and (b) not a 500.

£7,500? Really? Surely you'd just get the Renaultsport Clio?

Edited by thelawnet on Tuesday 14th October 22:48
I agree but it's a nice car, very rare, cheaper to fuel and has more torques. biggrin For some that will be enough the only downside really is that the Clio will handle better but for road drivers I don't think it's a bad car. Also Abarths are likely to hold their money better than a Renaultsport Clio/Twingo because they are so rare.

One of the all time best looking small hatchbacks ever. Up there with the 205 IMO, especially given the legislation it has to deal with...
Evo nose shat on it on though...

I have the AGP 155bhp with the Assetto handling kit, unfortunately not the SS engine mods as well....

Brilliant car, love the handling and is more than happy in the twisties, it could ideally do with a little more power, but 7.8 seconds to 62 surprises a fair few cars and for the running costs its ideal.

I have had mine over 3 years now, and wont be getting rid of it anytime soon, cannot think of anything to upgrade it to that ticks all the boxes.

Also the "rarity" is nice, with only 350 of the AGP in the UK

Insurance can be confusing if you purchased the car new and had the kit fitted mid-term. The Esseesse is actually a different car, has its own ABI code and insurance rating. Explaining to an insurance company that you've got the same car, but it's different can prove for some interesting results wink
hehe

Similar thing with my Mountune upgraded Focus ST - has its own ABI, but unless you use a specialist insurer you can imagine the blank faces.

Agreed. Wifey had a metallic blue 1.4 with nice alloys & I had a bright red 1.9 Sporting on factory 19" rims with a panoramic glass roof. I always thought it looked like a poor man's DB9 (if you squinted!).

Hmm, they didn't make much sense when new but now they're dropping in value nicely. Having tried a Clio recently I was underwhelmed by the gutless engine. Yes, its ok if you really rev it to 7000rpm but I'd trade some of the superb handling of the Clio for a gruntier sweeter turbo engine thats way more usable.
The Abarth Evo remaps to 200bhp with a lot more torque than the Renault. I'd have one on that basis, but reserve judgement until I try one.

Actually to my knowledge the Grande's nose was styled from the Maserati MC12, whilst its twin the Mito was styled from the Alfa 8C. Both cars use the same platform (along with the CorsaD), but looking at the two I would say the Grande resembles it's style roots must better than the Mito.
