Driving anti clockwise around the North of the M25 at around 15:10 this afternoon and a gunship I was unable to identify flew overhead. It basically followed the course of the road at I guess around 1000 feet.
My initial thought was AH64, but the fuselage seemed wider and the tail looked wrong. It did have mast mounted sites though.
Does anyone know what it might have been?

It will have been an AH64 the Army Air Corps operate them. The fusalage pods do make them look quite wide from below.

seen this but would have not said gunship, it was something akin to a Bell 430 or similar

It looked like an AH64 when it flew over Amersham at around 15:20, heading NW.

100% sure it was a gunship as it had a Mast Mounted Sight and weapon pylons.

Like I originally said I thought it was an Apache, but looked wider and the tail looked wrong. Must have been the angle I was viewing it from.

Look on the bright side, it could be a crackdown on middle lane hogs.

About bloody time...combining taking old Rovers of the road...and reducing our pension payments to baby boomers...win win wink

This may be a better image to judge from:

This is the only a/c native to the UK which has radar mounted above the rotors. Although potentially something else over here and heading north for Joint Warrior?

We've just had one come over very low and fast (as fast as they go) here in Edenbridge, heading west. I've seen them quite often along the M25 corridor and when I was doing some surveying tests at Odiham the odd one popped in for a touch and go.

One flew over us yesterday near Middle Wallop & it was extremely low (although didn't land at Middle Wallop)& was heading west. It was huge!!!

So I'm driving up the A5183 today at 15:49 and what do I see?

This time it was definitely an WAH64 / AH1 / whatever they're called this week. Flying at about 500 feet heading roughly towards harpenden.

Do I need to be worried?
