Need to move on the 130i shortly and the above has caught my eye in the classifieds. Whenever I mention it to friends I can see the fear in their eyes at which point they roll out general Alfa stories about rust, build quality and epic spend on failures. Can I simply ignore them and crack on?

Two different cars, but;

The build quality is better then that of an 1st generation BMW 1 series, which just as the E90 3 series, has a dreadfull interior (all IMO ofcourse).

And the BMW's of that era have had their share of problems with timing chains as well
