Co operative energy. Customer service is average but the pricing fro us is cheaper than any of the big 6. Worth a look.

EON for duel fuel. I only bought and moved in my first property in dec '13 so it was an easy one to go to. Will shop around this time.

When we moved we informed Scottish Power that we were moving. Yet they took another payment via DD even though we settled account and new tenants were billed. 5 months letter and cheque for refund is still 'in the post'.
EDF now, no issues, spoke to very helpful person on the phone, small issue sorted within 5 minutes. Recommended.

Ecotricity have been excellent for me and whenever I have to speak to someone they seem to have at healthy tripe digit IQ, have heard of customer service and appear to genuinely want to help. Plus they are investing loads in renewable energy and even the most ardent climate change denier can't be displeased to have the need for coal power stations reduced!

Seems surprising that they would say that. Am still pestering Scottish Power to get my refund, but the chap I spoke t'other day told me that if a cheque has been issued but not received within 10 working days they would cancel it.

In the end he realised that they hadn't sent me a cheque, but issued a partial refund to my old bank account.

I actually find Scottish Power pretty good when I give them a call - it's just that they are a bit crap at giving a problem free service in the first place. So far I've had to call 3 times to get a final bill sorted, twice to get a refund issued, once to find out where the refund is, etc.

So, I could write a book on my recent detailing with Scottish Power, having looked at Twitter, I am not the only person who is complaining at how mince they're. It's been truly an eye opening experience to how bad companies "customer services" can be.

Can anyone recommend a company that seem relatively OK or is that near impossible?

Thanks
Scottish Power are in utter disarray. Completely unfit for purpose, even the energy ombudsman has told me to move from them given their incompetence.

I can't wait to get away from Npower....but I CAN'T frown
Moved to a new property in January 2014, the property was with pre paid meters for gas and electricity. Because I was Npower customer before in my old property, they exchanged the prepaid meters for a normal one on 10/March/2014.
Today is 26 of October and I am still waiting for them to update the system. They can't charge me, I can't send readings, complaint have been on the go for the last 6 months and I am still waiting.
I've tried to change supplier and I CAN'T because there is not a record of the meters on the system....
This drives me crazy, the last time I spoke to one of the useless, clueless customer reps I just told him that no way in hell I am paying the bill in one transaction once when they manage to produce one. Since March I haven't paid for Gas or Electricity. They can set up DD for the amount of 10 quid a month and I will pay them back over the next few years.

The Scottish Power bds have now sent a letter about referring to their collections team, bd fkwit s.!!!

Email sent to their customer wker services explaining that if they don't sort it the fk out within 7 days, I'm either going to drive there and kill one of them, or refer it to Ofgem. I prefer option A !

Don't want to be the bearer...

BUT Ofgem are totally toothless mate. I've had to involve them with Scot Power and SP didn't even reply to requests for information. After a year of silence from SP ofgem effectively advised me to look elsewhere for my energy. They recommended SP pay me £75 for the countless hours ive spent trying to resolve..... Utterly useless.

Scottish Power - Avoid!

Incapable of taking a meter reading. By phone automated, using the web site, or even talking to a human (if you can stomach a 45min wait). Sure you can give them a reading but they will loose it/F**K it up.

The most annoying part though, if you want to leave them you can't give the new co the final reading. It has to come from SP, who will not send it, you will chase/wait 3 months then they will send an estimate and totally wrong reading.

I'm also with them. Seem very good.
I'm with them too, great company to deal with.
Yes as others have mentioned also. Apart from a competitive price I like the very easy to use/understand web site. Some very handy features to easily see where you are with usage and compare to other users by stats and graphs. Impressed.
Dissenting voice...

I built up a credit balance with them, which they refused to refund to me (over £300) saying that since they were paying me interest, why would I want it back? I then transferred to another supplier, and yet they continued to collect on the direct debit after I had switched! They then told me it was my responsibility to cancel the DD. Nice.
