Any idea what caused it?

By the way that has blown I would definitely be looking for a fault before I reconnected it.

Looks like the 'inside' on the bulkhead one to me....

Indicates dead short on the fuse/relay panel?? I think that's where the feed goes to?

Quite obviously needs testing out to check where the potential fault is but would wonder if the fuse has cracked like a lot of the flat 100 amp ones do and has been shorting across the gap for some time which would generate a lot of heat.
Either way get an insulation resistance tester (Megger) on to the circuits to test them before doing anything else, would also put the encapsulated replacement in there rather than the flat strip one.

Update..
Converted to standard Razor blade version, but the wire down there is getting so hot. The fuse itself is no longer popping.
I'll be taking it into Ewell this week to see what they can find.

Ps - It let go at 70mph on Motorway in fast lane - I Sh*t myself.
No power, no indicators and no windows - Had to manoeuvre from fast lane to hard shoulder with zero brake pressure Gulp!!!

I too have a feeling it's this... As the smell occurred about 10 mins before the it blew and the smoke showed...
