There are new roofs for about £ 400 . Are they easy to fit or is it a specialist job ? If so any body in Suffolk / Essex /Norfolk who fits them except the clowns at kerridges many thanks

I've taken my roof off a couple of times, it's only really a few bolts through the back into the boot above the fuel tank and a couple at the front in the recess where the door locks are. If the roof you buy has all of the holes in the right places it shouldn't be a hard job to do with a couple of spanners. You need a mate though to hold the nuts in the boot whilst you're inside the car as your arms won't be long enough to reach smile

erm? isn't there a bit of cutting and gluing involved too?

It won't come ready attached to the "hoop"...... and then there's the roof panel !

What happened at said place above. I won't name them for obvious reasons as they seem to advertise alot of TVR's.

As for the roof. Once you have tighted the back of the roof to the body as previous post has said get a mate. Also to hold down the edging which sits just above the boot and base of screen, apply some silicon to add a bond between the roof edging and body,, as this prevents water ingress also. Leave a day or two to set the attach the rest of the hood to the hoop making sure you use a good glue. Evostik is crap. Use a good floor tile glue that builders use. With the roof fully locked into place spread the glue on both fabric and hoop. Use a heat gun to keep the glue suppel , whilst you pull fabric on the hoop pulling taught then using g- clamps and wood packers hold in position.

Silly me, I've never looked into new roofs and for £400 I thought that you would get an exchange item. Do they just post you a load of cut and stitched fabric and you have to glue it all down?

I don't know about the supplied hoods and their sizes. I had to reposition mine shortly after it was made, which l did with the guy that made it. It sagged only by afew mm's but made all the different to its looks and taughtness of the rear screen.
