I've found you one - it'll cost you just under 20 grand plus shipping and taxes.

Trolling aside, I have been out in the SRT8 saloon and they are very quick for the size of car. The estate should be good but maybe I'd rather get a Volvo T5R if it were me. But it's not smile

As had already been mentioned they where only sold in small numbers so are rare enough to start with, it's one of those cars you've just got to keep looking for and sit on your money as they do occasionally pop up for sale.

Please don't be one of those peasents that ruins these by converting them to lpg though, if you can't afford the fuel buy a different car.

Why's converting it to lpg being a peasant ?
It is just a personal opinion so please don't get offended but I hate lpg systems they stink, they ruin engines and its normally installed by people who scraped together to buy something that's out of their budget to maintain correctly.

Oh and usually know better than everybody else.

Trust me I'm not offended, just curious as you seem generally quote knowledgeable about stuff
It's not exactly an expensive or exotic car, converting to LPG seems quite sensible.
Horses for courses I suppose, some people swear by lpg others loathe it.

I do recall a customer who bought an srt8 Grand Cherokee and despite all advice given installed an lpg system within the first 50 miles of owning the vehicle thus voiding any manufacturers powertain warranty. Then again that could just of been an isolated case of more money than sense.

Anyway anybody seen a 300c srt8 estate for sale? I know a bloke that's after one.

Sorry to hijack this thread...but I like luxury, space and speed. Preferably 0-60 in 5.0 secs, and 168mph top speed. A real BMW M3 eater if you will.

Is a 300C the car for me?

I wouldn't put the trim quality on par with bmw's even on the srt's, but if you want space and speed they certainly tick both those boxes. They do have more "road presence" than a m3 though.

Hey, but don't buy a "55" plate or a very early "06" car as you may look like someone who cant afford to run it. (joking)

Sounds like the 6.1 is the one you're after, forget the 5.7, it is like a wizened old man in comparison.

Can you chip it? I know the 335d is quick, but it sounds like this srt8 could be even quicker with a chip. Could this be possible?

Sorry nothing personal just a bit of leg pulling after the LPG comments, I was being a bit sarky. The joke was in relation to the cheaper £285 VED on 55/early 06 not the £475 later cars. The "joke" being that if you'd bought an earlier car of that specific age you might run the risk of looking like a skinflint who cant afford to run a 300C.

It wasn't particularly funny and even less so if you have to explain it.

I'll stop now - I'm not adding anything worthwhile.

Big thumbs up for the cars. Would love a HEMI.

I'm not sure. I think if you went down the chip tuning route in an SRT8 6.1, you'd need special tyres at the very least? You'd probably need a wheely bar as well.

Well thanks for all your contributions although some of you may not have experienced an srt8. Forget the 5.7 - it's like a wizened old man in comparison!!

Having a 6.1 engine it has an enormous amount of grunt, especially when you are going fast already. Followed an M3 at a ton, flashed him out of the way. He pulled over and accelerated - sorry M3's - he was wasting his time.
Up behind a TVR who was following a slower car in front. I heard the TYVR drop a gear as the guy in front of him was about to pull in to the left lane. As he did so, both the TVR and myself both hit the gas. either he bottled out or was outrun but at 120mph he'd had it! Don't forget, from 120 to 150mph+ is absolutely effortless in the SRT8.
Same thing with a Porsche 911. I don't know which model it was, (i do know it wasn't the turbo as i have great respect for them. However, cruising at 85mph he came up fairly fast and then the same sort of thing as above - he had to sit behind some old codger. After codger had pulled in we were off. Sorry 911's, it doesn't seem you'll outrun the SRT8. He lost hands down.
I don't think any of the driver expected to be beaten by an estate car!
What you want is an M5 estate.
