After reading a fair amount as regards to the ECU it is mentioned quite frequently that it is the most unreliable part of the EFI system..Having it overhauled and new components fitted is beneficial, Gains in horsepower and fuel economy have been reported...Even tho its subsequently low its still an improvement.

Its amazing how simple in comparison to todays hard and software it is..Although it was i guess very "Hi-Tech" in its day...Don't you just love technology...

A Short story...By Ziga from planet Zog.

Upon one day, Maybe a thousand years from now..A meteorite will strike this Earth...A small percentage of the entirety of life will survive..10% of everything..Including flora and fauna..The dark ages will be upon MAN once again..Upon another day the light will come forth from the skies again...Some say the teacher of all things...Then the saviour will arise...In the shape of a Wedge...Its carcass gleaming in the atomic age...From the Earth it has been born..The silver GOD will be the door that unlocks the mind...The ECU will be the start of the destiny of mankind....fk I'm glad i won't be here...laugh

biglaugh Nice.

Have a read about the Ford EEC_IV (and V, the later version).

Ford got this RIGHT. Fully digital, special version of CPU chip made by Intel, reliable, etc.

Unfortunately the are ROM, so it's hard to reprogram, but even so, a BIG jump on Lucas....

Hi Peeps...Just a little update...Put the ECU back in and the car now starts after about 2 seconds..Idles really smoothly, Seems to have a better throttle response and actually feels a bit faster..Cheers Chris....Ziga
