Hi all.

As above has anybody had Birds suspension put on their 3 series, any comments...or ac shnitzers from Rossiters?

Wonder how they would compare to the standard F30 330d se suspension.

Thanks

I have had the full Birds B3 suspension and ARBs fitted to my 335i which originally had the SE spec. suspension fitted. I researched very carefully before committing to it and the result is stunning, an absolute transformation from a mediocre chassis to a very very capable one. In just about every respect the handling is improved. If you combine this with non run flats then there is a further improvement. My advice would be to do it.

I fitted the Birds upgraded suspension... Rear axle movement reduced a little over bumps (stiffer bushes) but total waste of money..
It does not cure the understeer that afflicts this car... Best value mods...Juice Box, ditch run flats, and quaife...
It will never be an M3 but it is a very quick, nice looking and sounding car.
Save your money for an M3...

Agree with that, the Birds B1 suspension equally transformed my 135i in the same way. Much more control, and indeed comfort over OEM.

You could fit the off-the-shelf Bilstein B12 kit for half the money, if you don't mind a much stiffer and harsher ride. The B12 kit rides lower than the Birds too.

Got it....i would tune it first...the 335i is one of the most tuneable car on the market... 370hp with a tune...it will scare an m3 and an m5 on the road....
Good luck whatever you do!

Thanks MB ,thing is its a new 330d (not 335i as you typed) due in about week ,im not touching the tune, dont need warranty grief and will be more than enough for me.

It will be intersting to see how the standard SE suspension is,just the one and only time ive ever felt car sick was in a 7 series SE it was up and down like a Ferry in rough Channel waters !!Really wallowy

Pointless tuning it to 370 unless you get an LSD fitted, i tried (335i coupe) and could not get the power down on the road (with non runflat 225/40/18 & 255/35/18 Mitch PS3's), LSD transformed the car, it's still running on BMW suspension, it's an SE but i think all the 335i coupes came with msport running gear?

Been thinking of going for Birds suspension, but the car rides well as it is, so unless you find the ride too harsh then save your £ for a slippy diff or buy some non run flats!!!!

Ahh...my mistake..I had a 335d se too...again not quite what you have...but similar..i never touched the suspension on that one...it will be fine... Have a look into jbd from burger motorsports...easy to remove before any trips to dealer...apparently...😊 http://www.burgertuning.com/BMW_JBD_diesel_perform...

After 2008 bmw changed damper manufacturer so they worked better with rft tyres....
