Or buy one outright, if you can afford the £600ish to do this you may find it significantly cheaper over the two year period.
This is your best option, the phone will be locked to orange who won't unlock it. A jailbreak is not out for ios8 yet and you would need more than just a jailbreak to unlock it. The only option I can see is the dodgy blokes in a market may be able to assist. Have you considered moving to Three?
After trying all the others Three has been brilliant for me, data is important to me now and I travel all over the UK and only lost signal once or twice. Far better than Orange, trounces Vodafone and O2.
Plus they don't lock their phones.
Oh, and unlimited everything, calls and data included abroad, and decent if you have an issue. I bought an Xperia Z1 and regretted it, let me swap for a 5s for a very reasonable price after 4 months.
Worth looking at.

Interesting, may try and persuade Orange to match that. After trying all the others Three has been brilliant for me, data is important to me now and I travel all over the UK and only lost signal once or twice. Far better than Orange, trounces Vodafone and O2.

I actually paid over £100 to end my contract early with Orange - found them rubbish to deal with when I needed them. I moved to Three who, so far, have been great. I went from the Galaxy Note to quite possibly the biggest phablet out there - Sony Experia Ultra - I absolutely love it!

You can get iphones unlocked. Takes a month. Talk to your service provider. Right ball ache. I only buy unlocked devices now from Apple, and go with SIM only deals for this very reason.
Not on a brand new phone (except three) the phone provider technically still own the phone. With EE you can unlock with the provider after 6 months, Vodafone at the end of the contract so it all varies. Three and ofcom are pushing for unlocked phones as standard. Again I would echo what has been said by others about three. You cannot beat their costs to service provided. Good coverage a lot of 4g coverage by the end of this year and it's at no extra charge unlimited everything including tethering and about 20 countries you can use overseas for free (although data is capped around 4gb per month) and I think there was a limit to how long you can use it overseas per year 2-3 months IIRC which is fine for most people.

I've just got one too. Love it. Terrible camera mind you. But cheap as chips. Paid £219 and the same place is now selling it for £209. Biggest bargain out there.Luke. said:

Don't think Orange will be able to match the 'feel at home' abroad thing. Basically is free data, calls etc in 11 countries. As usual PH shows the way and i welcome any more input.

My only venture 'abroad' is the odd road trip over the bridge into Engerland so not bothered about that. Anyway I will be staying with Orange as it's the only network that works indoors in my village. Wifey will use her companies sim in the new iphone6 (if i get it). So unlocked Three could be the way to go - will speak to Orange and see what they say.
As usual PH shows the way and i welcome any more input.
If your wife is using her company's sim then why spend extra to buy a phone in contract? You're just wasting money. But a phone off contract from the Apple Store. As usual PH shows the way and i welcome any more input.

As I previously said as the phone will be a new one on the Orange network you probably won't be able to unlock it. A quick visit to the Orange/EE website states - if your phone is under 6 months old we are unable to unlock it. After 6 months it costs £20.42 to unlock. As usual PH shows the way and i welcome any more input.

I got a box for my office, for signal, which annoyingly is one area that is low signal, however, there is one bar, no other provider even gets that. As usual PH shows the way and i welcome any more input.
But definitely look into Three and reception.

Why are you buying a phone on contract (paying for phone AND contract) if you're wife will use her work sim?
Sounds like a waste of money
Err you quoted me and made an assumption both about me and the OP -forums are like that at times. I interpreted it as OP is due an upgrade and will either upgrade giving wife mew phone while he carries on using old OR he will move to new contract with same outcome. I asked out of genuine curiosity for another simple reasonSounds like a waste of money

Can someone DEFINITELY confirm that 3 don't lock handsets please. No disrespect to the poster who mentioned it inferred BTW
You have not disrespected me but you have my family. I can confirm what I posted but as you don't believe what a random person on the Internet posts here's the official link for the article from three. http://blog.three.co.uk/2014/08/04/phones-sold-unl...
