I had the same problem. Failed AM tuner module. New module fitted under warranty. Fine now. I think it's expensive if you don't have a warranty so may have to consider how much you really want to listen to Test Match Special and the shipping forecast.
It's clearly not part of the infamous 140 point check (well at least not at the dealership I bought my car from).

Steve,
I saw your question this morning, so during my delightful Sunday drive (same model year), I pressed the AM/FM button a couple of times to select AM. It went to what I assume was Radio 5, the sport station. I then wanted to do a station search but embarrassingly realised, that is yet another 'look in the handbook' job.
krisdelta has kindly offered guidance, but I think he has overlooked 2009 models do not have roof aerials.
If you need something to be replaced in your radio at your own expense, it might be worth investigating Alpine repairers / dealers. Your radio is an Alpine 700 watt unit.
However, after just a week, one would hope your dealer will be helpful. They sold you a car and a radio, but the radio is probably not a radio.
Jon.
Mine failed recently, noticed immediately after I got it back after a respray of the roof, I thought it may have been a bad connection, some thing disturbed with the screen coming out but told it was the module failure and not covered on extended warranty, replacement cost approx £900. Appears to be quite a common problem.
