Just bought myself a nice Barbour jacket. Where does the little badge/ pin go, pocket or collar?

I haven't put mine on as the collar on mine doesn't fold down because there's a hood inside and I don't want to put a hole through waxing on the pockets.

I'd throw it away. You really don't need a badge on a Barbour to say that it's a Barbour, do you?

Didn't they originally have the badges already on the jacket?

Don't think I can just throw it in the bin ! Ha

Put it where you want, when you take it out you won't leave a hole.

I throw mine away, but think on the edge of the lower pocket so it is subtle enough.

Depends on the jacket.

Just afix it to the breast of whatever garment you are wearing underneath.

That way when your coat has been removed, people will KNOW that you own a Barbour branded one.

Stick it on another jacket in a "my other car is a Porsche" kind of way

Ditch the pin - it looks naff. Nice jackets otherwise though.

It's almost as bad as the people who I see (rarely thankfully!) that leave the label on the arm of their suit.

I have a Barbour bag so might just stick it on that instead.

Possibly the worst social faux pas is a clean Barbour jacket.

Go to a suitable beach, throw it in a pool of salty water and drive over it. repeatedly.

It'll look much better.

Barbour jackets should be a mix of sludge brown and sludge green, with frayed cuffs and several patches, and they should leak. Anything else just isn't right. One should not buy a Barbour, one inherits one. hehe But seriously the whole point of a Barbour is that they are understated and just a coat, you shouldn't have to shout about it, thats not classy IMO

Are these badges a new thing? My B is ten plus years old and didn't come with a badge. Have I been diddled, can I venture abroad without it...........

Barbour jackets are flippin' 'orrible things. Expensive, cold, smell funny, make you look like a tool.

You just can't afford one! Ha only joking. But your right they do stink although not as bad as they use to.

My dad actually recomended I get one, I've had a few jackets over the years that just fell apart or just looked crap after 6 months so I decided to bin them all and buy one.

At the risk of sounding special, do you mean they actually sell them separately...

Haha no I mean ( reading up ) before 2002 they were already on the jacket and after 2002 they came separately in a little bag attached to the label. I could be wrong.

Yes, you should always dress based on parental recommendations. hehe

I don't subscribe to this "dragged through a farmyard" look. I've had mine for about 20 years, it has a couple of patches and is looking almost but not quiet scruffy. I keep it clean and re-wax it every few years. I did however bin the badge (actually in the shop IIRC!) as soon as I bought it.

I sell them, and some of my customers have started using silicone spray when it comes to re waxing.
Hang it on the washing line on a nice sunny day and spray it, takes 5 minutes instead of hours applying wax.

Sure they come new like this too, as they no longer smell when wet and don't leave a funning residue on seats etc. anymore.
They feel different these days when new too, not slimy.

I love the way people say you look like a nob in them, in what exactly? There are just so many designs, all using different shapes and materials.
