Right more pictures as requested. I have concentrated on the phone side of things and also some neat cubby holes that you might not know about (Even if you have one!)

The media cable for iPhone lightning cable (it also came with the standard 30 pin apple connector as well) - this is inside the cubby hole that is in front of the gear lever. it has a rubber mat in there and there is plenty of room for your phone.

Standard idle phone display showing name of phone, carrier, battery and singnal

The same idle screen on the main head unit (if you select phone) - you can have this while music is still playing, Notice the four shortcut buttons for one touch dial.

'Contacts' selected, you can use the right hand rotary knob to scroll, touch the screen and scroll iPhone style or use the steering wheel controls.

Recent call list on the centre MFD (just by pushing the up and down on the steering wheel.

free dealing directly from the head unit

Glove box picture showing the media access, standard CD slot and the SD card slot - the posher stereos get twin SD card slots.

Cubby hole 1 - this is on the drivers side underneath the headlight control - its a latched pull out flap which is great.

Cubby hole 2 - Yes i know the carpet already needs a hoover lol. draw under the passenger seat. there is also one under the drivers.

Cubby hole 3 - Under the arm rest. if you look really closely you'll see the standard 30 pin apple connector i was talking about too. i just chucked that in there.

Nice little 3 band graphic equaliser, you can 'slide' these with the touch screen

Fader control - you can move the 'target' around on the touch screen and it will adjust automatically.

Random car settings, just to show how configurable the car is and how much is done through the head unit

And lastly - those asking about fuel economy. this is over the first week I've owned it, the engine is not settled or worn in and i still haven't got over the novelty factor of the instant acceleration and noise smile

I did a run the other day, just into london (m25-m11-a406) it returned 32mpg overall but 42 whilst i was traveling on the motorway part which is mighty impressive (Avg 70mph)

Cracking pics OP and a stunning R!

I currently have a mk5 r32. I love the v6 but did enquire about an R when I was at VW lastweek as ive seen the Golf R thread on here too. ive received both contract hire and PCP rates on an alomost full spec DSG 5 door R with Recaros and im slapping myself not to go for it!!

noise, talk to me about noise... does it sound like every other VAG 4 pot? the Golf 6 R really was ghastly sounding.

PP, thanks for all these photos. They really give you a feel for the car. The car looks so good in red.

Glad they help.

When i was waiting for mine i got frustrated about the lack of decent photos of the interior - there were general pics but didn't cover close up on particular areas and also the head unit, no decent pics on the menus and phone operation etc.

Ahh, like a car review before it all became about image and 'lifestyle' - very good to read!

I really need a Golf R in my life, but struggling to justify letting go of the Mk4. I guess I need a test drive in one of these.

Very nice

I've also got a white 7 R which has been stage 1 tuned with a remap and pipercross intake, waiting on the BCS turbo back exhaust to be released so can eek more power out of it

You could get rid of two cars as this will tick many different boxes wink

are the claims of 3 second range 0-60 times realistic from the stage 1 map ?

Definitely possible

I haven't used launch control yet but the extra power and torque makes a big difference

Wow! That's pretty impressive for standard spec without any options! I need to wait until next year to know what will happen career wise but those photos are really tempting me smile

How long did it take to get delivered? There are a few "nearly new" ones with decent spec near my local VW dealership and they offer competitive finance too. Might pop around to have a look.

Why? What are you afraid of?

It's not a top fuel drag bike!

It's a brand new car, with less than 500 miles on the clock, I'm scared of breaking it, not the performance !

If you break it, it's under warrantee! My M135i saw the limiter on the way home from picking it up...

Ok, What's the recommended running in period?

As I pointed out to my colleague she he sort of demonstrated his S3 to me, the redline is where it is, not 2000rpm earlier wink

Pixel, may be a stupid question but how did you get the car to connect to your phone via bluetooth? I get the code up on the car's screen but nothing appears on my phone, is it a matter of waiting until the same code appears on my iPhone and then accepting it?

The iPhones bluetooth is only discoverable whilst you are in the bluetooth settings.

Go into settings > bluetooth on the phone, this will make it discoverable
Tell the head unit to add a new device.

it will search and then hopefully list your iPhone on the screen

select that phone

It will say something about a code, just say yes, and click pair on the mobile as well.

Hopefully that will be it.

Most of that was from memory so try it, if still no luck let me know and ill pair mine again and make a note of the steps.
