Assuming gas is in the house, is it as simple as I'm imaging?

All the plumbing is there, a flue is there, all the correct ventilation...

Quick swap out job? Then remove oil pipes and tank?

Ta!

Would have to be done by someone gas safe registered and would obviously also mean draining down and refilling the CH system with new inhibitor etc...

Seems odd though if there is gas at the house (assume there is a meter) that it's still on oil?

With Oil being the most expensive heating source there is, I think that would be a good idea. If the oil boiler is of any age is probably isn't that efficient either. Not sure the flue will be definitely suitable though.

If you're considering a swap from oil to bulk or bottled LPG, don't do it. That will cost you a lot more than oil.

A swap to mains natural gas? I'd be thinking in terms of £2-3k for a replacement boiler, assuming there is a meter in the house, the existing pipework and rads are worth retaining, and the existing location is suitable for the new boiler. Which are big assumptions!

I live in an RAF Married Quarter and exactly this job was done on our houses fairly recently. The building work was carried out in a day, not including running the gas to the meter box. All the prettying up after took about another day, bear in mind though that our old boiler was on an external wall so they had to create a hole to fit the flue.

None of it seemed too difficult, but the job was not done to a standard I'd expect in my own house.
