Just been looking at these and wondering if there's anything other than the standard e46 stuff to look out for when buying?

Any common issues/problems that aren't common to the e46?

Not too much that I can think of. I always had problems with both front parking lights on mine that never got resolved, despite it going into a couple of different dealers. Bulbs would melt their holders

Other than that, check that the boot opens fully of its own accord, otherwise it will probably need new gas struts. And rear springs, they eat them for breakfast, but I think that's the case with a lot of E46s

Great cars, but make sure you get a manual for more fun

Thanks.

I'm well versed in rear spring failure having owned an E46 330i biggrin

Gas struts is a cheap and simple fix so wouldn't bother me too much.

Rear wiper.....not an expensive fix unless the motor is toast, but I looked at six or so cars and only one worked.

Eta.. He's right you know, great little cars, I love mine smile... Although I get teased a bit for it wink

Just make sure you get the right gas struts if you've got the Storage Compartment Package ( S493a ) - they're a lot more than standard ones ( which most of the non OE ones on EBay are )
Only important if you want the remote key fob facility to work correctly though (150 notes rather than 40 ) - even new ones appear 'lazy' in subzero temps

Echo the rear wiper motor comment from Mark as well - worth checking as most second hand have started to corrode inside and new they are expensive. You can repair them if you're DIY handy though
